Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2013
This was ok. Be careful of too much bacon or it can be too salty. I like it served with veggies better than potato chips. I've tried it with a half package of ranch dressing dip as some have suggested, but be careful of adding too much or you lose the baked potato type taste.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
Not a hit in our house. Some of the pieces were dried and disintegrated like puffs, others tasted burned and the rest didn't seem to be fully cooked and were still moist and somewhat chewy. There doesn't seem to be a way to cook them evenly. It's a creative idea but these will never be an alternative to chips. I won't be making again.

Peppermint Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
If you like sugar, this will taste good, but for many it was too sweet. I don't know what was wrong, but this never really froze. It just got very sticky and the consistency of a very soft salt water taffy. It didn't serve well. I won't be making it again.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This is my favorite pulled pork recipe. I use A&W root beer and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. It's always a hit.

Microwave Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Although easy to make, this cake wasn't for me. For some reason it turned out drier and hard on the bottom but the rest of the cake had a more rubbery consistency. Since there is no heat, it had an anemic look so you have to use icing. I tasted it again the next day but it was dry and somewhat tasteless except for the apple pie filling pieces. I wouldn't make again. I made with the apple pie filling and applesauce.

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
This was very easy and tasted like comfort food. I don't like mushrooms so I used 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 can of cream of celery soup instead. I also added about a cup of milk at the end as it was a bit thick. Next time I'll also let the mixture cook just a bit longer to soften the onions.

Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Most liked this but it did get mixed reviews at Christmas dinner. I probably would just cut up the apples in chunks, put everything in the baking disk and forget layering it. I had to cook it longer than 30 minutes as the apples were still too crunchy.

Christmas Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
This was just ok. It looks pretty but it is a lot of prep work. I was surprised how tasteless it seemed to be despite having almost a pound of bacon in it. I probably won't make again.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
The taste was good but it all fell off the bone and was a big ball of mush. It wasn't good for leftovers because that big ball of mush was more difficult to deal with after cooling. I don't think I'd make this again, especially if I were serving it to guests.

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
There are a lot of problems with this recipe. Like others have said, there is too much oil, not enough onions, and more spices are needed. I don't know whether I'll try again revamping almost everything or just look for another recipe.

Weekday Pot Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Good comfort food. I used a 2 lb roast and there's no way it could reasonably have fed 8 people. Also, I think this recipe is for one of the newer crockpots. I have the traditional 3.5 qt size and not everything fit in. The meat was very tender. I think 10 hours might be a bit too long for a 2 lb roast.

Parmesan Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
This is what I'd call comfort food. It's a good flavor without a lot of spices. It was very moist. I don't like mushrooms so I used cream of chicken soup. The only change I'd make the next time will be to cut the chicken pieces into large chunks (maybe 1/3 or 1/2 breast) to make it easier when serving.

Tuna Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
This was ok but nothing earthshattering. I felt it had way too much cheese and definitely not enough tuna. I'm not sure I'll try again, but if so I'll cut the cheese to 1.5-2 cups and add another can of tuna. It was a little bland, so I might add peas.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
This was ok but I was expecting a lot more after reading the reviews. It was certainly very easy to make but it didn't have the Italian flavor I had expected. Maybe it needed a little basil or other seasoning, but I like the ricotta cheese version better. I made it for a party and I noticed I still had a lot of leftovers. If I try it again, I'll do like others and substitute ricotta for the sour cream and add some spices.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
This is my favorite meatloaf recipe. The tangy glaze is wonderful and the meat ends up more tender than normal. The recipe is great as is, but we like it even better using meatloaf mix instead of ground beef.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
This dough is flat and flavorless. It is very thin and tastes like cardboard after it is cooked. I don't think the yeast does anything. I won't be making this again. Sorry.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
This was good but a little bland for my taste. I did like the cinnamon mixture on the outside. I made half the recipe (but you need to be careful since the sugar measurements in the instructions don't change with the ingredient changes).
