Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2001
With the combination of not testing this recipe before I made it the night before Thanksgiving and the ratings telling me to be careful about this and that, I was stressed the whole time I was preparing/cooking it. I followed all the tips about using a non-stick large pan, greasing and flouring both the pan and chips, and closed my eyes and hoped that it would work. Luckily, it turned out perfect!! I did have to cook it for any extra 15 minutes, but when I took it out I had no problem with sticking. I let it rest for 10 minutes on a rack before flipping it over. The pan came out smoothly. I put a chocolate glaze over the top, and now it's sitting in my fridge waiting to be enjoyed as a Thanksgiving dessert. I can't wait to taste it!

Won Ton Wrapper Appetizers

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2001
This recipe was really disgusting. When I firt began the recipe, I thought the wonton cups were really cute and eye-catching. Then as I mixed the sausage mixture I was slightly repulsed by the Ranch additive, but I figured that it would all come together once cooked. I was wrong. It was way too sickenly ranchy creamy, and the sausage was rubbery. I brought this appetizer to a party, and thank goodness I brought the Brown Sugar Smokies (also on Allrecipes) because the dish remained virtually untouched.

Atomic Canuck Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2001
This recipe was very sweet, and instead of having a soupy and thick consistency, it was creamy. Not very good overall.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2002
This recipes was delicious. I added mushrooms, sauteed onions, a splash of Worchestire sauce, and packet of McCormick's Au Jous sauce along with the indicated ingredients. I let it cook for 4 hrs., then I sliced the meat in half, and let it cook another 4 hrs. When I removed the meat for slicing, I let it sit untouched for ten minutes so it can asorb the juicies to prevent dry meat. After slicing, I placed the slices back into the pot for another ten minutes scooping it out with the mushrooms and onions. The meat was juicy, and the gravy was flavorful and delicious. Sooooo good!

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: May 17, 2002
This recipe was very very good. I would love to make it with chicken sometimes, and maybe find a creamy sauce to put ontop of them.

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: May 17, 2002
Wow, this recipe is awesome! It took me forever to prepare the carrots, but I could imagine how quicker this process would be if I had a food processor. The cake was huge, and stayed moist for up to a week.

Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: May 17, 2002
YUMMY! I added canned sliced potatoes to the pie, and used fresh vegetables. This pie was so creamy and delicious that I decided never to go back to store bought pies!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: May 17, 2002
My fiancee and I noticed that although the sauce tasted like it was suppose to, the meat (although tender) did not taste as good as a sirloin steak meat traditionally does....I would love to find a crockpot recipe that uses a more appropriate meat.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2002
Oh my goodness, I have been with my fiancee now for three years, and two and 1/2 of those years I have attempted to beat or match his mother's and grandmother's chocolate chip cookies. He has always been brutally honest with me about my attempts, and up until now my cookies have been "good, great and ok". Well, after I made these chocolate chip cookies his eyes widened and he exclaimed, "This has to be the BEST cookie I have ever had in my life. Ten times better than my mom's! Better than anyones!" ThANKS!!!! :)

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2002
This soup was hearty and comforting. However, I do not know if it is because I have never really had homemade soup, or if canned soup (Progresso, for example) as gotten better, but it kinda tasted like a lot of store bought soup. I think the "idea" that it is homemade makes the soup that much better. Still good, and a nice gesture to let someone who is sick know that you made it yourself for them.

Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2002
Being asian and having grown up with authentic asian stir-fry's, I consider this dish a good imitation. I added several additional ingredients, such as fish sauce. Overall, good.

Basic Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2002
This recipe was very easy and delicious, and I made mine with a strawberry sauce. Since it is towards the end of the strawberry season and my strawberries weren't that ripe, I soaked them in some water, Triple Sec (it has orange based acidity in it) and sugar for about 2 hours. The strawberries were soft and plump, and sweet. To make additional homemade sauce, I simmered another 10 strawberries, 1 cup water and sugar on the stove. Then I removed it and added a TB of strawberry jelly. I blended it all and added sugar to taste. Once it cooled I scooped some of the sauce over the strawberries on each individual slice cheesecake slice.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2002
These cookies were OK. I added 1/2 cup of flour and also let the batter sit in the fridge for 1hr. My first batch was crumbly and slightly "dry". Wanting a more chewy consistency, I added another 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar, 1/3 cup of peanut butter to the remaining batter and the second batch turned out VERY chewy and very peanut buttery. My suggestion is to add additional peanut butter and brown sugar to acquire the desired chewiness and peanut butteriness.

Chili Cheese Dip III

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2002
I originally adopted this recipe from a friend of mine. The ingredients are similar, except we use 1 can of chili for every package of cream cheese. We also add a jar of jalapeno peppers and a tsp cumin and chili pepper. ****A tip for tastier chips*** Typically instead of purchasing regular tortilla chips, I learned from a gf that you can achieve a restaurant style chip by purchasing tortilla shells (like burrito shells) at your supermarket. Make sure they are the Mexican version because regular ones will be crackly and very oily. Cut them in the desired size, and fry them in oil until lightly brown.

The Best Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2002
This recipe was very delicious! To make the mixture more garlicky, I boiled several garlic cloves with the potatoes; when they were soft they were easier to blend with the mixture. I, like previous others, thought the mixture needed some added smoothness. Milk solved the problem.

Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2002
This recipe is very close to the version I make. For variation I sometimes mix chow mein noodles in the casserole and some on top for a crunchier casserole (instead of french fried onions). I also add 1 TB soy sauce and 3 TB sliced and scattered butter on top. Yum

White Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
This recipe was very yummy! I rarely bake with white chocolate, and most certaintly haven't melted it, so when I noticed that the chocolate got creamy and cream-cheeselike instead of meltey, I was a little thrown off. But, it worked out well, and the batch was sooooo good after it chilled. I threw in crushed Oreo cookies into the batter before adding the chocolate and made cookies and cream fudge!

Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2003
YUM YUM YUM! After a I scaled down a few ingredients in this recipe I found it delicious! I only used 3 anchovies and a little less than 2/4 cups of mayo. Like others I found it somewhat thick so I added 1/4 cup of water and 2 TBS of Olive Oil. I also added one hard-boiled egg to the mix. I grilled up some lemon pepper chicken and threw in some bacon bits and WHALLA! My fiance went crazy! This recipe is very much recommended!

Stuffed Pork Chops I

This recipe was OK. I found the pork to be somewhat bland, even with the homemade stuffing on top. I am still searching for the perfect pork chop recipe.
