Camp Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
Came out pretty tasty. Cut a slice and put it right on top of my home made chili also an allrecipes recipe :-) HOWEVER I think a 13x9 pan is crazy for this small recipe. I will DEF use an 8x8 next time. Hope ya'll have good results too. Oh and it will look super soupy... comes out perfect.

Classic Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
Very tasty, A little bit dry, so I highly recommend a little milk. I made this into two meatloaves, cooked @ 350 for 1 hour. Was delicious. I used a heaping tablespoon of preminced garlic. No mushrooms because I didn't have any, nor the carrots and celery. I have done it with them before and I do highly recommend it. I used one of the "stir fry" frozen Onion & Pepper mix. Very tasty!

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2012
This bread is so tasty. I will admit while I was first putting the ingredients into the machine it smelled awful... Like burnt plastic. After it finished though the house smelled amazing, i'm eating my bread right now. Has a very light texture, crust is great. Next time i will either use bread flower, or some wheat flower to see what happens. Overall a great recipe, and cheap to make. I'm thinking about also using honey instead of the sugar.

Macaroni and Cheese with Sausage and Pears

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
Its pretty tasty, I bet it'd be better with smoked sausage. I used sweet sausage. Everyone enjoyed it. I didn't use pears, sounded crazy. I used less sausages.

Zippy Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
This was so good. One change I made was adding corn, and adding more potatoes. This came out so good. Also in the potatoes I used cream cheese. I think it added something. Very surprised to how good it came out. Not very quick to make, but still pretty quick. Way too much beef broth, took a long time to reduce.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
It was very good, however dare I say a hair oniony. Didn't expect it to be, as I love onions, but for whatever reason it was certainly very potent. I added 1 carrot which was nearly a purey from a food processor. Added extra moisture. Cooked @350 for 1.5 hours, came out amazing. Cooked it in Chef John's Mushroom gravy sauce. Quick and easy way to do it, just melt 1/4th cup butter in oven safe pan on stove top. Cook 1 8 oz package mushrooms (Whatever you have, shitaki is best, but I also tried white) until tender, not mushy or slimy. Add 3 tablespoons flour. Stir to cook for a minute. Then add 2 cups of chicken or beef broth (both work great). Stir until thickened. Then add half cup of cream. Stir and shut off heat. Pop meatloaf in the pan, don't put any of the gravy on top yet. Cook for 1 hour, THEN put the gravy on top throwing several mushrooms on top too. So good! Serve with mashed potatoes.

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
Okay so after 30 minutes at a LOW BOIL the meat was cooked all the way. Soooo check your meat! To be honest i just simmered it even, and it still cooked in half an hour, so cooked I couldn't even put it on the grill because any more would have over cooked it.

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
It was DELICIOUS! However I cooked mine for much less. When you brown a pork chop its almost cooked as it is... If yours are very thick maybe this would make sense, but for an average pork chop I'd say 30-40 minutes is fine. Just check the doneness as you're cooking. The sauce was amazing!!

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2012
Delicious. However 9 hours is too long, 8 hours its falling apart as it is. I tried to cook it longer but my slow cooker refused. Once you've finished cooking it, take a minute and cut the fat away, aka scrape it away because its SO TENDER! Once you've done that you can REALLY see the grain. Cut across the grain. Some people don't and you could choke. This makes it fork tender, and easy to eat.

World's Fastest Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
It was decent. It was quick. And got the job done. I wish it was a bit less tough, but its no big deal. Maybe if I did it again I'd add some sort of vegetable slurry to it. Maybe add more bread crumbs.

Creamy Mushroom Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
This recipe is amazing. I did NOT do the Beef Veal and Pork meatloaf he suggested. I instead used his classic meatloaf recipe. Hover instead of 2.5 pounds of chuck, I did a mix of chuck and pork. Came out amazing!!! All the family wanted the recipe. I also did not spoon on the gravy until half way through the cooking process. Made a bit more of a crust on the outside. I would actually have let it stay in longer next time before spooning over the gravy.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
They're pretty good, however i followed others advice and did the extra cinnamon + nutmeg etc. Just kind of a coffee cake in my opinion, with a banana flavor. Not what I wanted to be honest, I wanted a Banana Nut Muffin. So I suggest the Banana Muffin II.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
Took a total of almost 4 hours doing it without a bread machine. Here were my results: The way I managed the dough- Used dough hook on my stand mixer. Mixed fine, didn't know it'd be so elastic, very different than most doughs i've worked with. To allow the bread to rise I set my oven to 170 and put the dough in there. It made it rise very quickly. Took roughly half an hour. Icing: I didn't use the recipe for the icing from here. I found another recipe which sounded more like the original. I was correct. It tasted very similar, though still not the right texture, someone said it could be thicker if you used fondant sugar. The other recipe used margarine and also included lemon juice. Makes sense considering the the frosting of the real cinnabon has that flavoring. Overall the cinnamon roll tasted okay, but it wasn't a cinnabon by any stretch of the imagination. The breading was almost gross. Not the right texture at all. These were slightly airy, and not very strong, where as the cinnabon brand is very strong and dense. So I don't know what to say, I spent so long working on these, sure it was a bit of fun but it was overall very disappointing and became a waist of money. If i do this again I will certainly edit the recipe to include more cream cheese and less butter on the frosting, also figure some way out to make the dough more dense.
