Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
These are great! A huge hit at our Christmas dinner. Cut bacon in thirds and just follow the directions from there. The men really go for these.

White Chocolate-Cranberry Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
I've only tasted a few bites of this, but it tastes very good. Can't wait to try some more. I had major issues with making logs. It could be because I tried softening the butter in the microwave. Next time I will be sure to let it soften on the counter. I put it in the refrigerator for awhile and then put blobs of it into logs on parchment paper. In the end, I think it will be just fine.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
Delicious! My only change was to use seasoned bread crumbs, which I always do. It was great. Remember to let rest b/f cutting. Update: I reduced the milk to 3/4 cup to make sure it wasn't too wet. I've also added green or red pepper and that is tasty.

Vegetable Beef Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
This is a wonderful v/beef soup. I did change it up a bit though. I used one large can of V8 and 2 cans of beef broth, instead of all tomato juice. I added some of my frozen tomatoes from the garden. I also added some onion, celery, and carrot that I first cooked a bit in some oil. Also added 2 tsp of beef bullion and a bit of red pepper flakes. Yummy!!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
This was delicious. I followed the recipe as written. I did have some trouble with it not setting up completely, so thankfully it was only for my husband and myself. The flavor was great though.

Butterfinger Chunkies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
These are very tasty. I followed the recipe as written, except used creamy peanut butter. I used 10 snack size bars. Shaped them into balls and used parchment paper. They need some time to set up on the cookie sheet b/f removing them. Definitely will make these again!

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
Absolutely delicious! I didn't change this recipe, other than adding a bit more chicken, carrots, and broth. This is the best! It could very likely replace my traditional chicken noodle soup.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
You definitely have my vote and also my families. What a great apple pie! I made just a few changes: brushed the crust with egg white to avoid soggy crust, added 1 tsp of vanilla (and 1 less tsp water) plus 1 tsp of cinnamon to the caramel mixture, tossed the apples with most of the sauce and saved a bit for the top crust, and baked at 350. So delicious! I may take a few tablespoons of water out next time, but that would be my only change. I definitely will be making this again! Thanks for sharing!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Perfect! I reduced the water to 1/4 cup. I also mixed the sugar/flour/cinnamon mixture with the apples before putting in the pan. Didn't melt the butter, but instead cut it into the flour/sugar mixture and then added the oats. It was a hit for all!

Cranberry Icebox Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
I thought these were just okay. Mine were soft and more like a muffin than a cookie. Not crisp as they are described to be. My husband seems to enjoy them though.

French Toast Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Delicious! I did flip my bread b/f baking it and I increased the baking time by about 15 minutes. It still could have been more done in the middle of the pan. I added some cinnamon to the egg mixture. Will try it again and try to drain any egg mixture that I can in the morning b/f baking it. Also, used frozen berries, but that just increases the moisture problem, so I will use fresh berries next time. I used 1/2 cup pecans which was a good amount. The pecans had a lot to this recipe! I did make one mistake, I forgot to add the melted butter and brown sugar for baking it. I'm sure it would have made it even better.

This is really good! I cooked mine for about 12 hours which was plenty fine for a 5# roast. Lots of great flavor!

Crispy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Great recipe. I cut my potatoes into 8 wedges and was glad I did. We liked the larger ones better. They crisped up very nice. I also added a little cajun seasoning. This recipe is definitely a keeper!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
These are great. The only thing I did different, was to use 2 tsp lemon juice, instead of the cream of tartar (wasn't sure mine was good still). I took the advice of others and baked 8-9 minutes and then took out and put on the cooling racks right away. Mixed them by hand and used parchment paper.

Super good! I increased the flour by 1/4 cup and used 3/4 cup chocolate chips instead of 1/2 cup. Also used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup margarine. They turned out perfect! Crispy and Chewy at the same time.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
These are delicious sugar cookies. I followed the recipe as written. Used quite soft butter and didn't have a crumbling issue as some did. Next time I may increase the vanilla or try some almond extract. However, they are great as is.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
Made this for my husband and father. They loved it! I had one package of skinless boneless thighs and one package with bone and skin. The ones with the bone in and skin on were definitely more flavorful and juicy. We'll be having this again for sure!
