Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
Finally found this recipe! I've made it in the past, and just now for Thanksgiving. I think the key to this is using REAL mayo... Miracle Whip is NOT mayo. I also substitute cashews for the sunflower seeds. I toss everything (bacon too) together and let it sit at least over night. I stir every few hours or shake the bowl to get the broccoli coated. This is always a hit. I can't wait for Thanksgiving dinner, it can't come fast enough! Happy Thanksgiving!

Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I made this over the weekend to take to a party. I've never made a cheesecake in my life. To my surprise it was not that difficult and I had great results. It did crack on top, and I was sad when it happened. After reading other reviews, I'll have to learn more about a water bath for cheesecakes. Did not change the flavor, and all who tasted it raved about it. Thanks for the great recipe!

Candied Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
This was fantastic! I've done it this way before, but this time I cut the squash, placed it cut side down on a foil lined cookie sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and baked for 45 minutes (I had 3 squash) then took them out, flipped them over and sprinkled with salt and pepper and cinnamon, put in 1/2 tbsp of butter then about a TBSP of brown sugar in each. Then I just placed a piece of foil over the top and baked for about 15 more minutes. My daughters boyfriend, who hates veggies and won't eat them announced "I like this!" then proceeded to eat it all. Amazing!

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Made this tonight. Very good sauce. I've never made homemade sauce before. I've used "jar" sauce for years. Not anymore, this was wonderful. Made a lot of sauce, so I froze the rest for another time.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Oh boy, this is good! I had 1 1/2 cups cooked long grain minute rice I had left over from a recipe, so I thought I'd play with this recipe. I skipped the first step, as my rice was done and went to the second step. I added the hot rice/milk sugar mixture to the beaten egg to prevent scrambling anything and it turned out wonderful. Can't wait to do this the right way with med. grain rice, because I bet it will be even better. Thanks!

Wild River Bloody Mary Mix

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
This was GREAT! I used V-8 and I wish I'd gone with a tad less pepper, as it was a bit spicy. Everyone LOVED it. Oh Oh! Serve it with Zesty Garlic Dill Spears. It was AMAZING!

Easy, Eggless Strawberry Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This was OUTSTANDING. I used heavy cream and half & half, as that is what I had (2 cups heavy cream to 1 cup half & half). I tripled the recipe and used 2 containers of strawberries that I blended in the blender, so no food coloring was needed and it has a very pretty pink color. Very easy, and I love that there are no eggs in this.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
Very good and easy way to make asparagus. They came out tender and flavorful. I doubled the sauce as I had a large batch to make, but next time I will omit the salt when baking the asparagus, as with the soy sauce in the recipe it has enough salt flavor.

This is wonderful. My husband was looking for a new recipe for French Toast and now he grabs this recipe every time. They were very tender and flavorful slices.

Brandy Slush I

I made this for NYE and used Blackberry Brandy. Took awhile for it to freeze, so make sure you have time to let it get hard, otherwise it was GREAT!

Try this with Raspberry pie filling and you will not be disappointed! Throw on some vanilla ice cream or cool whip and you will LOVE it. Very easy to make, and it goes together in a snap.

Tater Tot Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
This turned out really well, however I did make some changes. I added 1 pound of browned ground beef, I used cream of chicken soup with 1/2 the amount of sour cream called for, a splash of milk, 2 cups of cheese instead of one, and I threw in a packet of Onion soup mix. I think it turned out a tad salty, so next time I make this I will use 1/2 packet of soup mix. I was the only one who said it was salty, so maybe it was just me. Kids and husband loved it. Hard to find something they all eat, so this is nice!

Hot Buttered Rum Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
This was good, but super sweet. I'd maybe cut down on the sugar next time a bit. Maybe by 1/2 cup? Everyone loved it. Some used Rum, and some did not but they all enjoyed it with or with out the spirits. Thanks for the great recipe! For something spicy, try the spiced hot buttered rum recipe on this site. Yummie as well!

Pork Chop Potato Casserole

I have been making this casserole for years. Actually got the recipe about 20 years ago from a neighbor. I use about 2 cups of cheese, because if some cheese is good according to my family... more cheese is better!

Aunt Mary's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
Aunt Mary has come up with an AMAZING chocolate cake! Very moist! Turned out fantastic and it was SO easy. I was a bit worried, as the batter was very runny, but it baked up nice and fluffy. I did add about 8 more minutes to the baking time just to make sure it was done inside. Thanks so much for this one!

Fudge Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I should have looked at the ingredients more closely before I started this recipe, because the uncooked egg whites bothered me a bit.... so I changed things. Instead of egg whites, I threw in some skim milk to soften the fudge up. What I ended up with is a heavenly fudge frosting. I am glad I found this one.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
I hate to be the only one, but I just did not like this, nor did my family. I think it was the ketchup in there. If I make this again, I will omit the ketchup and see if that helps. With out the sauce they tasted like mini meatloaves. Just not what I was looking for. It was fairly easy to put together though, and was a quick meal.

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
We had guests visiting from FL and they were talking about 'sweet tea' so I had to make some. SUPER! I also sugared some lemon slices for a garnish if desired and they loved those with the tea. Have made several pitchers of this and will continue to do so. Thanks for the recipe. I have now made Southern Sweet Tea!

Tangy Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2007
FANTASTIC! My husband found this recipe and made it himself. He does not cook much, and this was awesome. It sat in the fridge about 24 hours, after he tenderized the pork loins a few times with a fork to get the marinade in the meat. He seared it first, then cooked with indirect heat on the grill and it was fantastic. 2 different neighbors stopped over, had a bite and said next time we make it to let them know and they will bring over their own tenderloins for him to cook! Simply amazing!
