Fruit Pizza I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
YUM! We didn't have the right pan, so we divided it into two glass dishes (maybe 6x10"??). The crust was thick but delicious. All the kids at my daughter's 5th birthday asked for seconds! Success!

Egg-Free Bonbon Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I made these to bring to my daughter's Kindergarten on her birthday because one of her classmates has an egg allergy. These were surprisingly good! The only downside was that they ended up being just a little dry & some kind of crumbled apart. I'm sure it was just operator error. :-) If you need an egg-free cookie, this is great!

Nana's Mashed Turnip

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I've never tried turnips, and our family liked this. It wasn't amazing, but I give it 4 stars because it got us to try a new food. We probably won't grow turnips again, but we will definitely use this recipe if they are given to us!

Edible Play Dough

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
This was okay. My daughter & her cousin thought it was fun to play with (& eat!), but they didn't ask for more. I thought it could've tasted better, and it was a bit oily like other reviewer said.

Veggie Pesto Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Surprisingly good! We had a lot of these ingredients that we about finished, and this was an excellent way to use them up. Like others, we just used regular basil pesto. The only reason I didn't give it another star was the lack of "wow" factor. We did also make cheese drop biscuits with it, and I would highly recommend putting the biscuits in the soup! I'd never done it before, but our lunch guest recommended it. THAT was amazing!

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Yum yum! We used the "Taco Seasoning I" recipe on this site b/c we didn't have a packet, and it was GREAT! The only thing we changed was not adding the zucchini, and that was only because we actually ATE all that was in our garden. (Weird, I know.) This was absolutely delicious.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Excellent. I needed some taco seasoning & then realized I didn't have a packet. No more packets for us now, thank you very much! Even my 5-year-old daughter said it smelled "really, really good".

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds with Sugar and Spice

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Mine ended up in a giant hard ball. The taste was pretty good, but the effect was kind of like peanut brittle. I asked a friend about the results & she thought maybe I should have kept stirring until it cooled. The directions just say "until coated". Is this just something I'm supposed to know? I'd like to think I pretty proficient in the kitchen, but I guess this is my first try with pumpkin seeds. I might try this again to see if the stirring until cool works.

Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I had a head of cabbage from the garden & pound of pork sausage I needed to use, so I thought this looked like a simple solution. It was! The only thing that was even remotely "hard" was the effort in grating the cabbage--maybe 7 minutes. The first bite was alright & then it just seemed to get better & better with each bite! We used the new Earth Grains "Thin Buns" instead of pitas, but used halves & kind of wrapped them around the "filling" like a pita--fantastic!

Cheese Stuffed Mushroom Appetizer

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
They were a little too "cheesy" for me, but my friend liked them a lot! Like some other reviews, I changed the goat cheese to feta & the onion to green onion. (Although I do love goat cheese!) I also changed the butter to olive oil & used much less. I think the only other thing I might do differently is to maybe up the time under the broiler to 10 minutes--I added 2 more minutes after the 5 minutes & I still thought they needed more time.
