American-Italian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
Yummy! My husband gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up, and declared it a new favorite! I forsee in my future making this numerous times this summer. I used shell pasta instead of the spiral. Especially liked the peas and salami. Thanks!

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
This was ok, I wasn't overly impressed with the flavor, it seemed that it could use more. It was an easy recipe, so that was nice, just wasn't wowed by it.

Pull-Apart Hot Cross Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Yummy! Just made these for the first time. I had to toss my first batch, but that was because I didn't follow the order of ingredient for my bread machine. Second batch was much better. The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars was the cardamom wasn't very strong, I think I might try doubling it next time. Love the icing and overall flavor of the bread, though. Was well received.

Easy Pavlova

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Very good! I used this recipe along with Ina Garten's for Mixed Berry Pavlova on Easter and we agreed this may be a new tradition! Thanks!

Traditional Reuben Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
I made this for my husband - the Reuben is one of his favorite sandwiches and I had Corned beef to use up. He liked it, it was just ok to me. I'm not a huge sauerkraut or thousand island dressing fan. It was fine, just not great to me. However, I will likely make it again for him.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
I personally did not like this, but my husband did. I am disappointed, cause I really WANTED to like it. However, I don't think it was because of the recipe itself. It is because I am picky with seafood, and hadn't had Tilapia before. Perhaps I will try something with Cod and Halibut, which I know I like.

Irish Cream Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
Just made these - they are pretty good. I will probably make these again. It's a good brownie recipe to add to my rotation. Thanks!

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
This was good, received a thumbs-up from the husband. I had to make a few adjustments based on what I had on hand, but I don't think it changed the overall taste of the dish. I like this, but with the fat content, I think I will only make it occassionally and stick with my favorite way of cooking brussels sprouts- roasted w/salt, pepper, and olive oil.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Love, love, love these! Just served at my husband's 40th bday party. They were yummy, so yummy, i made more the day after the party with the unused smokies. They went so fast, I ran out early in the party. I did not skewer the smokies, just placed on the cookie sheet. Will definitely be in my arsenal.

Cream Cheese Penguins

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
If I could give 5 stars on the idea/creativeness alone along with the visual appeal, it would definitely earn it. However, it is a very tedious process. And although the instructions were great, I'm not sure it was worth it. I received lots of great comments at the party I served it at, it just took a lot longer to accomplish. Also, it's hard to not mess up the "tuxedos" of the penguins w/cream cheese on the sides of the olive. But overall, great idea!

Easy Chocolate Bundt Cake Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
4 stars for easiness- but not sure about taste. It was a little sweet to me- and believe me, I love sweet. It was almost too easy of a recipe, if that's possible. I felt like it just wasn't very special.

Prime Rib Au Jus with Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
I'll admit I only used this recipe for the Yorkshire pudding - I have my own recipe for Prime Rib (horseradish + whole grain mustard). However, I really enjoyed the Yorkshire pudding, I made this for our Christmas dinner. I couldn't get 1/2 cup of drippings so I filled out the amount with oil. It was yummy!

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Just made these over the holidays. Loved them. I changed it a bit however, took the suggestion of melting chocolate (dark) first, than the white with some peppermint extract. I crushed up some candy canes over the top. Will be in my rotation for the holidays from now on.

Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This was ok. I did not add orange zest. I think it needs more flavor - perhaps in the form of frosting. It just seemed a little dry. I liked the idea of cream cheese in the recipe, but I will probably try other recipes.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Very good! I am not a huge fan of fruit pies, but this was very good and well received at the event I took it to. I made two pies to use up a ton of apples - one with the full crust and a cutout, one with lattice. I think I actually like the full crust better. I added some cinnamon (1tsp), fresh nutmeg (pinch), and allspice (pinch) to the sugar mixture. I think the recipe would have been just as good without it, but I love those spices. I think this recipe deserves it's high ratings.

Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I have to say I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be given the other ratings/reviews. I am not sure if I will make it again, I have a different recipe I like much better. However, I definitely think the sugar would need to be cut back it seemed a little sweet. My husband liked it ok, but I just didn't enjoy the flavor.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
This was good - I added a ton more ham than it called for - it initially was all potato. I used carrot instead of celery. I really liked the flavor of white pepper in this soup. Lastly, I used chicken broth instead of bouillon so I had to adjust the salt somewhat. Will make again.

Hot Onion Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Disappointed in this recipe, I don't feel it had great flavor at all as written. The onions should probably be carmelized beforehand, and I think adding garlic and other seasonings would help. It's a lot of cream cheese and parmasean cheese to use up for disappointing results.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Was ok, but not spectacular. I am very disappointed because I had been looking forward to making thse for my husband, who loves hot wings. Followed recipe exactly, and added blue cheese on top of chicken. Just didn't have good flavor in my opinion. We agreed this one won't be made again.

Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Very good! The dough was a little sticky, and made it hard to incorporate the chips evenly, but my husband has been consuming them very quickly. Will definitely stay in my recipe box and regular rotation. Thanks!
