About this Cook
I love to eat. I love to cook. I am a new/first time mom to a beautiful (now 10 months old) girl! Just recently, I have found the time to get back into the kitchen and have some fun...as opposed to just cranking out a meal to satisfy hunger.....boooooring!! Now, more than ever, I feel the need to work on my culinary skills....so my daughter will think 'Mommy makes the best yummies EVER!'... Haha, i can dream :-) ~cheers
My favorite things to cook
Ribs. And cakes. Oh yes, and fruit salsas. Oh, oh and............
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, growing up, my mom wasn't a very good cook. She was a young single mom, so i got whatever was fast, easy, and somewhat nutritious. Her mother, my Granny, erred on the bland & very nutritious side of cooking, which isn't very exciting for anyone. Fortunately, both have improved their skill sets over time, but that doesn't leave me with any family traditions : -( So that just means it is up to me to start some! Yeah!! I'm ready, lets get this party started ;-) *I must add that my Granny has made banana pudding for my mom at least once a year for as long as I can remember. And it sure is goooood. I do suppose that is a bit of tradition :-)
My cooking triumphs
TBD.
My cooking tragedies
Oh my. Heres ONE. I once dropped an entire ham on the kitchen floor as I was attempting to pull it out of the oven...

Spicy Shredded Beef
Very good basic recipe! As mentioned by others, it is not exactly spicy. In addition to the tomato, I added a 1/2 C of salsa & half of a red bell pepper & half of a green bell pepper. Very yummy in burritos! I will make extra to freeze next time.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
My only modification was to add a water bath. I baked at 350 for one hour as instructed and let it sit in the oven with the door closed for about 8 hrs. Turned out beautiful on the outside, but sadly mushy on the inside (in the center). Overall, a tasty cheesecake. I may possibly use this recipe again in the future adding at least an additional 15-20 minutes of baking time.

Best Brownies
Delicious and decadent! I only used about 2/3 c. sugar and they were perfect. I'm reluctant to call these "brownies" because the texture was somewhere in between brownie and cake...not fudgy but not cakey. Somewhat dense, yet still light. Amazing is what I'll call them.
