About this Cook
I’m a recent college graduate that never had the time or money to put together well thought out meals (not that I do now as a young professional either). Anyway, cooking for me always consisted of throwing whatever was handy into a pot/pan/bowl/whatever was handy, spicing it up and hoping it turned out alright (usually did!). I’ve always been into fresh and healthy foods and foods with lots of flavor. By joining allrecipes I am hoping to turn my spontaneous cooking style into some real cooking skills...
My favorite things to cook
HUGE fan of anything with some spice. Currently loving curry pastes, fresh chilis, cilantro and basil.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a family, we would go Asian and Hispanic markets, buy things that looked "oh intersting" and then figuring out how to cook them later! My mom (with limited help from my brother, father and I) would then make the most amazing meals without a recipe! I strive to be as creative and intuitive cook as my mother.
My cooking tragedies
Still trying to master using my charcoal grill. Determined to do so.

Egg-Free Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies
Pretty good, I think it still needs some tweaking, as the cookies are a little heavier than a traditional oatmeal cookie, but the flavor is great... and you can't beat the fact that it's made sans butter. All in all I would recommend for someone trying to find a healthier cookie.

Moroccan Lentil Salad
Really tasty. I also made it with mint instead of cilantro (didn't have it on hand) and a little bit of feta (needed to be used) and it was really tasty that way too! I only put one hot pepper in both times, I think next time I will up it to 2. Over all, this recipe is a great discovery, easy to make and easy to take for lunch/ a quick dinner.

Oma's Rhubarb Cake
Great tasting cake. Only gave it four stars because the rhubarb flavor is really weak, even though I added four cups like the other reviews said. I make a rhubarb sauce (4 cups rhubarb, 2 tbsp butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar) and topped the cake with that. Really brought out the rhubarb flavor. Next time I will make the sauce w/o sugar and add it directly to the cake batter, hopefully adding more flavor.
