Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
I made this for dinner guests, and it was a hit - even the one non-cheesecake eater in the group said he liked it. I added the extra cream cheese, etc. as suggested, but it took about two hours in the oven before it set. Next time I would add more cinnamon.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
I didn't have time to puree the soup, so I just mashed it with a potato masher. Obviously, it was chunky rather than smooth, but the flavor was great! I couldn't convince my non-soup and non-squash-eating husband and children to taste, but I will definitely pass this recipe along to others!

Sunny's Creamy Chicken Pork Chops

Very easy; tender and flavorful; great with mashed potatoes. I will definitely hang on to this method of cooking chops!

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2002
Looked pretty and tasted yummy! The peach pie filling adds a very mild flavor; I may experiment with other fruit fillings like cherry or blueberry.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2002
I made this recipe for a brunch, and it was quite a hit! Next time I will probably salt the potato crust before adding the filling.

Pork Butt Roast with Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
So moist and tender -- the meat just fell apart! I'm going to add BBQ sauce to the leftovers to make pulled pork sandwiches. My only suggestion would be to add more seasoning for greater flavor -- perhaps stud with garlic or fennel seeds and salt generously.

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2002
OK muffin. Be careful when baking -- only took 20 minutes for me.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2002
I made a number of substitutions based on ingredients I had around the house: penne rigate for the pasta, a combo of cream, half & half and 1% milk for the cream, ground red pepper (1/8-1/4 t.) for the red pepper flakes, and crushed Italian tomatoes for the whole tomatoes. It was delicious -- a very flexible recipe!

Jo Jo's Favorite Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2002
My daughter, who does not like bananas, enjoyed these muffins, but I think it's because there isn't much flavor. They are good, but not wow!

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
Lacks "oomph" -- no body to the flavor, just sweet.

Crab and Swiss Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2002
Very easy way to do quiche, but very rich. I can't say I noticed much flavor other than swiss and mayo. Perhaps it would help to add some additional seasoning, as other reviewers suggested.

Green Grape Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2002
I used black grapes instead of green, but the results were still quite tasty. The pecans really make the salad.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2002
I found this recipe quite tasty, but it didn't earn rave reviews from four others who tasted it. Although I doubled the amount of coffee, I found that the coffee flavor diminished over time while the banana flavor increased. The muffins were best straight from the oven.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2002
I made this recipe for a picnic, and it was a big hit! There's nothing in it that my veggie-adverse family won't eat.

Banana Pancakes II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2002
This recipe is probably adequate for those seeking low-fat food. I made it only because I needed to use up some bananas and buttermilk, and I was disappointed. The pancakes are heavy, not fluffy. Even my kids wouldn't eat them, and they usually love pancakes.

Green Grape Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2002
Nice flavor and a good way to use grapes; however, the pie itself was a disappointment. A 9" pie plate is definitely too small for the ingredients - use a 10". Also, the crust wouldn't stick together, and the fruit mixture never thickened. I had to strain out the grapes and whisk in additional cornstarch after the mixture cooled, then cook again.

Bacon Cheeseburger Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2002
Since I had a can of crescent rolls, I used those for the topping. I also added salt & pepper. I thought the recipe tasted good, but my family didn't care for the veggies in it. Next time, I'll try to make it taste more like a plain bacon cheeseburger.

Oven BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2002
Very tender (even before 2-1/2 hours cook time), and faster to prepare/cook than some of the other rib recipes that require marinating overnight or 3-hour cook times.

Kelly's Butterscotch Pudding

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
Great flavor, especially warm. Faster to make than homemade puddings which don't use cornstarch, but didn't really set up until chilled.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2002
Good potato salad -- everyone really liked the bacon. Next time, I think I'll try adding a little mustard with the mayo for a bit more tanginess.
