I'm 25 years old and live with my boyfriend of almost 3 years and my 2 year old spawn of the devil dog. I am an occupational therapist on a rehab unit at a nearby hospital and work mostly with people who have had a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, or any type of cardiac or orthopeadic surgery, helping them to overcome everyday struggles, such as getting washed and dressed, feeding themselves, or getting in and out of the bathroom. I love my job, love my family, and love my friends.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a Portuguese girl, so anyting I cook needs to have a lot of flavor to it, not necessarily spice. I hate bland food. I love cooking Italian dishes, but I feel like they never come out the same way twice. I would love to cook seafood more, but I'm paranoid that I'll either mess it up (it gets expensive!) or I'll undercook it and poison everyone.
My cooking triumphs
I made Easter dinner completely on my own for 17 people. Wait, I'm lying...my boyfriend's mom made the mashed potatoes. Everything came out perfect! There was turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, carrots, then the desserts...blueberry pie, Italian cream cake, cookies and cupcakes for the kids. I was eating leftovers for days and my family was impressed at how good everything came out!
My cooking tragedies
I don't like baking, i feel like it's harder to cover up mistakes. Things fall flat, or are lumpy, or too sweet, not sweet enough...at least with cooking you can easily turn one thing into something else. I was making wedding dress shaped sugar cookies for a bachelorette party, but once they were put in the oven, they expanded and came out looking like owls. they didnt even taste good so they ended up in the garbage.
