About this Cook
Cooking is way of life for me. I love to cook, I love challenges, and I like diversity in my cooking. My family gets home-cooked meals almost everyday, from simple to exquisite. I love cooking for friends and families on those special occasions, and I definitely love to entertain. My grandmother was a great, southern style cook who made meals daily. My mom let me prepare a meal a week growing up. Somewhere along the way, I ventured outside my comfort zone and expanded my abilities. And the rest is history, so to speak.
My favorite things to cook
I love fusion fare, and modifying recipes to include my own take. I enjoy Asian, French, Mediterranean, Indian, and other styles of cooking. Currently I am experimenting with pressure cooking and getting amazing results
My favorite family cooking traditions
The Holidays and parties are my favorite traditions. I've made the same traditional brunch for Christmas almost every year. I try new recipes on the holidays and blend them with old standbys. I love theme parties, the biggest being my annual Oktoberfest party.
My cooking triumphs
Right now its mastering the pressure cooker. Its so amazing, quick, and very tender results.
My cooking tragedies
I had a few failures early on, and currently the only thing I've had utterly turn out terrible was burnt Red Velvet pancakes.

Presidente Margarita
I made this for the neighborhood Margarita bash on Cinco de Mayo weekend and these were a bigger hit than the frozen ones. I substituted cognac for the brandy, and used Triple Sec instead of Cointreau. I made about 1.5 gallons and used a glass dispenser and shook with ice and poured into rimmed cups. It was very tasty! One note: I used a nice, middle of the road gold tequila, made from 100% agave (Legado). It makes the difference!

Grilled Shrimp Caprese
Made this for my family this week and was simply a hit! I used Italian cheese blend along with the Parmesan and it worked great! I used my own blend of Italian seasonings. Will definitely make again.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
