Red Snapper Livornese

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2004
Let me preface my review by saying that i don't eat meat so i didn't actually taste the finished dish. But the sauce was amazing after it simmered. Everyone that ate it though agreed that it was restaurant quality. I made one or two changes. After sauteing the onions and garlic i deglazed with about a half a cup of white whine. I also used the entire can of tomatoes and their liquid. And a extra teaspoon of capers and a pinch more chili flakes. It was ferociously devoured, so FIVE stars. :)

German Lentil Soup

Pretty good. I "veganized"it by ommiting the ham and using vegetarian "chicken" broth. I added a little more veggies, broth and seasonings than called for. I think next time i might try "beef" broth and a little red wine. But overall it was pretty tasty.

French Onion Soup With Browned Garlic

Reviewed: May 5, 2003
As with the previous reviewer, i used vegetarian "beef" broth instead of veggie broth and only 2 large onions. I didn't have sherry so used a good red wine instead. Threw the bread on with some vegan mozzarella and broiled it for a few minutes. Everyone loved, especially me! Thanks

Black Beans and Rice

Yummy. I also added a can a corn, a can of diced tomatoes, some lime juice and a little more cumin. I made Mrs Espy's enchilada sauce found on this site and used the whole sha-bang to make stuffed peppers. A wonderful veg*n meal! \m/

Barbecue Tofu Sandwiches

Mmmmm, Delicious! I think next time i may try crumbling the tofu and eating it like an open face sloppy-joe! The key to this all hinges on what BBQ sauce you use. I used Rocky Mountain honey bourbon...fantasic!!!!

Vegan Curried Rice

Exellent. I used a cup of organic vegetable broth instead of the vegetable bouillon and water. I didnt have any problem with the quantity of spices either, seemed just right to me. Good stuff.

Baked Curry Chicken

Really good. But i suggest everyone do what i did. I seasoned the flour for the chicken with onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley and curry the second time i made it and it had ALOT more flavor. Overall very good.
