Honey Dijon Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2013
I used all the ingredients as listed. However, allow me to suggest to the reviewers that felt the vinegar was overpowering, do NOT use grocery store balsamic vinegar. Use the aged balsamic. It comes out thick, almost like a syrup. It has a small hint of sweetness to it that is sumptuous. The store brands are fine if you're cooking with it or what not but if the balsamic is going to be the star of the show, get the real stuff. I thought the taste was fabulous. I will admit though that living an hour from France gives me access to some amazing ingredients so not only did I use thick and sexy balsamic (which I could eat plain,) but I also used some wonderful dijon. If you're going to go through the effort of making your own food, be a food snob when you need to and get the better ingredients.

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
Great texture. That is normally the hang up with me and my family. The taste can be amazing but if we don't like the texture I won't make it again. My youngest son, the pickiest, thought this mimicked ground beef exactly. My husband, the omnivore, thought it was good...drowning in condiments. I served these as nachos instead of tacos. Made pico de gallo and guacamole to go with it and we scarfed this down! I cooked my lentils down with brown rice and I think that was a good choice for us. 3/4 cup lentils 3/4 cup brown rice 4 cups 'beef' broth. I will most certainly be making this again and again.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
I renamed these for my family because the dish seemed to encompass my husband's two favorite desserts: brownies and chocolate chip cookies. Our name for this dreamy dish is = chocolate chip cookie dough brownies. I doubled just like other reviewers. It worked out well except for a mistake made on my part. I accidentally doubled the amount of salt. Yeah, we all tasted it but it doesn't stop us from tasting beyond that to just how wonderful these brownies truly taste.

Yum Yum Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Yummm, yummmm. We put this on ham sammies, dipped our veggies in it, dripped it on our bbq sammies, and at one point I had to stop my son from double dipping with his finger.

Baked Rigatoni with Italian Sausage and Fennel

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
My whole family gave this thumbs up! I used breakfast sausage instead but, it still turned out abfab. Didn't have fennel but I had fennel seeds. Sorry that I had to use substitutions but, hey, I used what I had. It was still wonderful. This has made it to my family list. Plus, there was enough for leftovers. And don't these dishes always taste great the second time around?

Teena's Overnight Southern Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
I had to make my own 'buttermilk' by adding 2Tbsp of vinegar to my whole milk. Then I let it sit on the counter while I gathered the ingredients. This morning I was able to bake the lovely biscuits while I made the sausage gravy. My husband loved them! Making food yourself is not only more satisfying than opening a can, it's better for you and the environment. Thanks for the recipe, it reminded me of wonderful summers in Alabama with my grandparents. Gran made light and fluffy biscuits EVERY morning. It's wonderful to wake up to the warm aromas of a cooking breakfast. Maybe it will help me wake up my teenagers!
