About this Cook
I live in south central Pennsylvania with my husband. I love the paranormal & mysteries and belong to 2 groups pertaining to those subjects. I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with friends & family, being in nature (but I'm NOT a camper). I usually spend vacation at historical and/or haunted locations. I love history and am currently researching some fascinating historical characters in my area. I am usually the person in charge of organizing events, gatherings, investigations, outings & vacations.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food--mac n cheese, soups/stews, cookies, LOVE Pennsylvania Dutch recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The Saturday before Christmas my mom, sisters & sisters-in-law get together and make hundreds of cookies. We call it "Cookie Day."
My cooking triumphs
I don't have any in particular, but I'm always happy when people ask me for a recipe of something I've made.
My cooking tragedies
My best friend was bringing home her adopted daughter from China. Her family and I were waiting for her when they arrived. I had made lasagna for the ocassion. Bad part is--instead of grabbing oregano, I had began sprinking CINNAMON on the lasagna. I had scooped most of it off and figured the tomato taste would be strong enough to mask it. It wasn't. :-( Embarrassing.

Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs
My husband said, "These taste like something you'd get only in a restaurant." Yummmm. Perfect--didn't change a thing. Very tender and tangy.

Gaye's Microwave Fudge
Oh wow! Wish I had found this recipe sooner---I cannot count how many times I've stood over the stove making complicated fudge trying to "gage" soft candy temp and/or is it over-boiling/under-boiling only to end up with "ice cream topping." This recipe is "too easy" I thought. IT'S GORGEOUS!!!! It taste just like the "complicated" fudge (or close enough for me anyway) without any of the hassle! Yummmmmmy!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
PERFECT JUST AS IT IS! I made this recipe as written and it is FANTASTIC! Just as advertised--soft & cinnamonie ... just yummie. I wouldn't change a thing.
