Cheese Blintzes

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2003
Went over well at the night of cards I took it to. Next time I may add a little vanilla to the sour cream to make it not such a stark contrast, and buy a little more expensive white bread. :) but overall a good recipe :)

Roast Beef Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
my husband loves this one, though I think it's too salty. We buy 2 of the 6oz carl budding beefs and just cut it up with shears. Also its easier if you mix the cream cheese and sour cream first, then the onion mix, then add the beef. This one is best made the day before to allow the onion mix to soften (there are onion flakes).

Best Barbequed Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
My husband and I didn't care for these at all. The oats were not something you'd want in a burger, and the French onion mix just made them salty. Not somethng I'll make again.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
I've had this recipe for over 20 years from my girl scout troop growing up. It's a breakfast staple in our house, especially for Christmas morning :) also good if you throw a little pumpkin pie spice in instead of just cinnamon.

Saucy Herb Hamburgers

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
had a good taste, but the burgers did not hold up well on the grill. I will try it again because they were so tasty, but we had one full "casualty" that completely fell apart. I also tweaked the bbq sauce to be 1/2 ketchup 1/2 taco sauce to give it more of a kick :) also added a bit of minced onion to the beef mix because we're fans of it in burgers.

Never-Never Ever-Ever Fail Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
I don't know how you could name this Never-Never Ever-Ever fail fudge, because it's failed me twice. The first time I blamed the chips, I used milk/peanut butter mix and only a full bag (so 1 3/4 cup instead of a full 2 cups). Today I used a full 2 cups of semisweet and it doesn't appear to be setting up right again, 3 hours after the fact it still appears soft. In reading the reviews (I didn't before attempting this since it had high stars) it appears you are missing directions? Isn't that what Allrecipes reviews it for? If there is a specific time the fudge needs to be boiled it would be nice if someone would SPECIFY IT. I'm putting the fudge in the fridge in hopes I didn't waste all that chocolate (I made a double batch for a large group) and won't have to buy something to take instead. If it doesn't set this will be the last time I make this.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Great base for an amazing salad. I add a lot more items (carrots, cucumber, raspberries, mandarin oranges, gorgonzola cheese, and chicken) but the dressing is very mild and good. I usually add cracked black pepper to the top as well.

Smothered Filet Mignon

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
Pretty amazing, I reduced the amount of onion and used gorgonzola instead of blue cheese, but otherwise kept it all the same! Great with some mashed potatoes, caesar salad, and bread.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008

Bordelaise Sauce with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
very good :) I had dried shallots at my Dad's I needed to find a purpose for and this was well suited. Even without bayleaf and using cream of mushroom soup instead of fresh mushrooms it turned out great. Will have to try the original version sometime. And when I cook minced garlic is never "optional" its mandatory ;) and I used 1 Tbsp since I doubled the whole recipe (though only used 1 can of cream of mush soup).

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
I make this sauce frequently every summer. Best when made with a good Whiskey, we get Gentleman Jack just for the taste it lends this sauce. Trust me, we bought cheap whiskey to make the sauce with and it just wasn't the same! I don't change a thing, good just the way it is, though if I don't have tomato paste it is fine without. Best to use fresh cooking onions, I actually throw a whole small one in (diced of course).

Sausage Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
we have made these for years. One great thing to do is to use the chive & onion cream cheese, or sub diced ham for the sausage.

Boston Cream Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
I've made this twice, first time I wasn't overly impressed with the custard. This time I added an egg yolk and extra 1/2tsp vanilla and was much happier with the results. Whisking constantly while cooking prevents lumps from forming from the corn starch. Not sure what I did but this last time I made the cake it came out badly; so in a pinch (FYI) the betty crocker yellow cake mix works well with the other components ;)

Gorgonzola Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2004
This was excellent. I had some left over gorgonzola from another recipe and this was a great way to use it up. I added about 1/2 a bag of the tysons grilled chicken strips (heated and diced), 1/2 a box of pipette pasta, and peas and it was a great meal with some garlic bread and white wine. Definately a keeper.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
Not what I would think of as a traditional banana bread with the changes many recommend, but its very good. I did the recommended 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, subbed apple sauce for oil, sprinkle of cinnamon, and a tiny bit of vanilla. Its so good!

French Toast Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
This was amazing with some changes I made ;) got many compliments from my friends staying for the weekend. I mixed everything together in the pan before covering it for the night. I added 1 container of fresh blueberries with the bread/egg mixture. I cut the milk a bit and used a full cup of fat free half and half. I used a full tsp of vanilla, and used the "texas toast" (thick sliced) style bread (a whole loaf) instead of plain white bread. I also used a corningware pan that was larger than a 9x13 so that it was a thinner covering across the pan (had read some reviews that it is soggy). I also ended up baking it about 40min. Thanks for the good recipe base :) its now part of my book.

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2005
I made mine into muffins, using papers - followed the recipe except I doubled the chocolate chips and used canola instead of vegetable oil. Baked for about 30 min, but watched it from 20 min on. Use REAL vanilla extract it makes a difference. These turned out excellent, I was given a HUGE zucchini from a friend and it barely put a dent in it, will probably make a bunch of loaves and freeze them to eat during the winter.

Butterflied Curry Turkey Tenderloins

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2004
This was kind of bland. I used chicken breasts that I "forked" and marinated it for about 26 hours in the fridge and still found it bland. We also cooked it indirect, turning every 10 minutes. Since someone said it was dry when they followed the recipe. Turned out moist but needed a bit more punch (we like curry). I may use the Madras (hot) curry powder next time instead of the Indian (mild) and maybe use minced garlic instead of the powder. Overall a good recipe for chicken and for those of us on South Beach its got low carbs from no sugar or thickening agents.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Only changes I made were to add garlic pepper and kosher salt to the rub, used hickory wood chips in the smoker of my grill, and sweet baby ray's bbq sauce. YUM.
