Crispy sweet leeks provide a surprising counterpoint to soft salmon.

Red Snapper in Grape Leaves with Garlic and Caper butter

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2012
You know it's good when the 6 year old loves the little "berries" (capers) and the 11 year old gobbles it up. Truly an easy, restaurant quality dish.

Chicken Unitarian

Really easy and incredibly satisfying. Tender, if you marinate it first. Lots of au jus to play with afterwards.

Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage-Brown Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Worth the effort. First bite was eye-popping wow experience. The sage butter sauce just brings it all together. Added a little agave to the filling, to "fatten" the flavor. If you skimp on the spices, sorry, you're a wimp ;-) Only thing I might do differently next time: The won ton wrapping does not have an "Italian" mouthfeel. I'd love to try it with semolina dough.

Oyakodon (Japanese Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl)

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Real crowd-pleaser here. My kids loved it. Easy to make. To those who say that replacing the dashi with chicken stock, I feel you're missing the Japanese essence of this dish. I heartily recommend seeking out either dashi powder or, if you're feeling a little adventurous, try making your own. It's really quite easy. There are numerous recipes for dashi on this site.

Mediterranean Baked Fish

Turned out really nice. Kids even like it. Followed recipe pretty closely, but used rockfish instead. I may have overcooked the leeks a bit.

Chipotle Flank Steak with Creamy Cilantro Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
I loved how easy and quick this recipe was. Oh, and tasty too! especially the marinade. The cilantro-mayonaise sauce was a little disappointing, though. Too salty and too much mayo. I think I'll try a variation based on sour cream next time.
