Beer Bread I

love this bread! Great with any beer, we especially love using the seasonal beers. Fabulous with chili.

Bacon Clapshot

i didn't add any milk because the veggies were moist enough without it. My kids loved it, 2 of them even wanted the leftovers for breakfast the next day. i would recommend eating any leftovers within a day or two, though because the turnip seems to get stronger as it sits. I mixed some grated cheese in with the bacon too.

Sourdough Bread I

Bread is wonderful. Holds up well, lasted more than a week in a plastic storage container. Fabulous as oven baked French Toast with orange flavoring, orange zest and dried cherries. I'm currently attempting to freeze 2 unbaked loaves, I'll edit when I find out if it worked well.

Vanilla Sauce

I followed the mods that most people mentioned, increasing to 2 T cornstarch and decreasing to 1 C water. We liked it, but I did find it a bit sweet. I will make it again, but may try it with more water to cut the sweetness. I might also try switching the vanilla extract with rum flavoring. It reminded me of butter rum sauce.

Hearty Red Beans and Rice

Great! Not quite spicy enough, but that's easy enough to fix. I added chicken broth in place of the water, didn't use sausage, added a bell pepper (1/3 each of red, yellow and orange), used fresh herbs because they were in the garden, and brown rice. Instead of fork mashing some of the bean mixture, I pureed it using an immersion blender. It made only 4 generous portions though.
