Chewy Sugar Cookies
great recipe. mine came out flat but the flavor was GREAT, very chewy. :o) i added light brown sugar and cinnamon on top before baking and they taste great. next time i'll follow suggestions and refrigerate dough so they wont be so flat. tee hee.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
i made this recipe the first time and FAILED miserably, they came out dry, hard and just not at all chewy. i was surprised because of the quantity of great reviews so i decided to try it again. i had run out of butter so i went to my local trader joe's to purchase more butter. i started mixing the ingredients and immediately noticed a different from the attempt the day before. the dough was much more moist and the chocolate chips actually stuck to it unlike the previous dough that had chocolate chips falling off from it. anyway, i had a tiny bit left of the previous butter and realized that the size of the butter stick was significantly smaller than the ones from trader joe's. that totally explained my dry and uncooperative dough. people, all butter sticks aren't created equal. i would say that the first butter sticks were at least 1/3 smaller than the ones i got at trader joe's. the second batch of cookies turned out amazingly. i did not change anything about the recipe, it is perfect. cookies came out gooey and delicious. the flavors of the sugars, vanilla and chocolate were blended to perfection. oh! i did add some peanut butter chips i had handy as well. next time i will try it with chopped walnuts, i was bummed that i didn't have any at home. A+ recipe for those of us who are new to baking. if you fail once, try it again and do compare butter sticks at the market. economy must be forcing companies to make their sticks smaller even though the label is the same.
