Miniature Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2001
This recipe was so easy and delicious! When you need something quick, universally popular and to feed a small crowd in a hurry, this is it! I am going to try it again, next time in my mini muffin tin, with a variety of toppings such as caramel sauce and apple pie filling (and maybe even a little sprinkle of nuts!) or kiwi and fresh peach and strawberry, etc. Like little elegant petit fours but much tastier and way simpler.

The World's Best Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2001
Really yummy, excellent turkey! Moist and flavorful! The only complaint I had was that a couple of my less adventurous relatives (lil brother and his wife) could taste the champagne in the gravy (made from pan juices) and didn't care for the gravy as much. But it really was one of the tastiest turkeys we ever had!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2001
These were so so so good! Totally gourmet and different, with perfect texture. They are really rich, so one or two with a glass of milk or coffee are definitely enough, but a wonderful cookie!

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2002
Well, I made this because the reviews were very good, but I was dissappointed in the results. It was "OK" but not amazing. I had half a pan of leftover cake with lots of people over, and ended up throwing it out because no one really wanted anymore the next day. Not very orangy tasting, frosting is kind of strange. I wouldn't make it again.

Awesome, fantastic, terrific, delicious! Everyone loved this one! Excellent crust, wonderful glaze. I did add some strawberry jello to the glaze for color and flavor. This one rocks!

Puffs

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2003
We made these without the monterey jack, just the cream cheese and jalapeno, served it with sweet n sour sauce, or red pepper jelly for dipping. Everyone loved them! an easier, tastier version of a jalapeno popper! They were a huge hit!

Bar Cookies from Cake Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2003
These are good, but not awesome, I won't rush to make them again, but if I needed something for the bake sale and had cake mix on hand, I'd probably try again because of the convenience factor.

Fluffy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2003
mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmmmmmmm yum it's great! I never even bother with the orange zest or liqueur. Marshmallow fluff and cream cheese blended is THE best dip for strawberries. I always get raves with this.

This was pretty good, a nice change from spinach dip, but unlike spinach dip, no one was raving either.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2003
These received lots of compliments! I cut the mayo way back to about 2 T. and substituted cream cheese thinned with a bit of milk. I used regular sized muffin tin, which made them more like a brunch item than an appetizer, but everyone thought they were great!

Won Ton Snacks

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2003
We loved this dish! I made them in regular sized muffin tins, so, not as much an appetizer as a snack and as we had it, a light dinner. I added some powdered ginger and salt and pepper to the meat mixture. I mixed in the thai peanut sauce as directed and found that it was wasted in the meat mixture. For my second batch, I drizzled the sauce on top of the filled cups instead and it was very yummy! But, don't forget to season your meat mixture if you do this, since the recipe relies on the thai peanut sauce for all seasoning. It was yummy, we all loved it!

Italian Sausage and Zucchini

This was so easy and delicious! Great low carb dinner by itself! Does not even need pasta or bread. I will definitely make it again. Note: My dad thought this was a bit too greasy, however. FYI

Praline Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2003
Absolutely wonderful, I thought my family would balk at the change from our traditional, but everyone went nuts over this! I did make some changes. I cut down the butter to half, I cut down the sugar by one third, I substituted evaporated milk for the cream and cut back by about half, and I topped the whole thing with marshmallows instead of the praline. A total hit with everyone!

Val's Hungarian Jewish Chopped Liver

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2004
This turned out very good. I may have over salted it a bit, but I rectified that by adding about a quarter cup of white wine. This made it really good and helped the consistency as well. Don't rate this recipe until you've tried it chilled, the flavor really comes together. Everyone I shared it with loved it! It was very easy to make.
