American Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I don't really care for vegetable soup, so I only found this "okay," but my family really liked it. Definitely good for a cold night.

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Wow! We were in heaven with this recipe. I messed up and accidently used whole chicken breasts instead of halves, but it still turned out great. Used a sauce flavored with sausage, and it was dynamite. Will definitely make this again - for company!

Tasty! Sometimes I get cravings for broccoli soup, and this really hit the spot. I will make this again.

I thought this was just okay, but my family raved about how great it was! I'll definitely make it again.

Garlic Chicken Stir Fry

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Maybe I did something wrong, but I'm pretty sure I followed this recipe exactly and it didn't taste very "garlicky" at all. It was okay as a basic stir fry, but nothing really special. I might give it another chance eventually, but for the moment I'm sticking with my other stir fry recipes.

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Super, super rich. I was a little uncertain about the weird green pepper crust layer, but it tasted pretty good. Everyone enjoyed it the first night, but the leftovers sat in the fridge untouched. I haven't decided if I'm going to go to the expense and trouble of making this again - it was good, but didn't make the big hit that I was hoping for.

Lemon Mushroom Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Very, very good! I searched all over the place to find capers (I didn't even know what they were,) and after making this recipe, I don't even think they're neccesary at all. The lemon-mushroom flavor is outstanding! Made this for company and they loved it.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I found this to be a flavorful and different way to enjoy soft tacos. My boyfriend found them to be a little overpowering flavor-wise, but I'm pretty sure I'll make them again when the warm weather comes.

Divine Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
This rating would actually be about 4 1/2 stars. Personally, I LOVED it, but my family only seemed to find it "pretty good." My mom wasn't too sure about the red pepper flakes. I'm going to make it again in the future and with adjustments to the amount of peppers and seasonings and see if I can get a more enthusiastic response.

Chicken Chimi in the Oven

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I was pretty disappointed with how this recipe turned out. We significantly cut down on both the chili powder and the cinnammon, but the flavor was still overpowering. I think I would be willing to try this recipe again, but with quite a few adjustments to the spices - probably no cinnammon at all - and maybe a cheesier/creamier filling.

Swedish Meatballs I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Loved this recipe! My boyfriend is still a little uncertain about the cream of wheat in the meatballs, but the flavor was wonderful. I'll be making this again for sure.

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Yummy! Somehow I burnt the bottom, but the whole family still loved it. It was somewhat tedious stuffing all the shells - next time I think I'll slit them open and roll them up with the filling, placing them seam side down in the pan. Loved the spinach!

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2003
I made this recipe a while ago (I'm a little late with the review - oops), and it truly was warm-up-your-soul, curl up with a blankie comfort food. I absolutely LOVED the flavor of the broth. My only problem with the recipe lies in the dumpling department - 1st of all, I didn't get the consistency quite right. 2nd, I live alone and dumplings don't really seem to survive well in the fridge when they're sitting in liquid. The next time I make this recipe (which will be the very moment chilly weather arrives), I think I'm going to portion out the soup mixture into individual bowls for freezing/refrigerating, and then make the dumplings on a case-by-case basis when I reheat the individual portions on the stove. I ended up having to waste a bunch of this glorious soup because of my dumpling mishaps, and I'm not going to let that happen again! Thanks for the recipe.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2003
I am a tired, cranky, hungry college student with a microscopic kitchen and very little time to spend on cooking. This recipe was everything I was looking for - quick, easy, very yummy and healthy. After reading the reviews, I used 14 oz of broth, ground ginger, sirloin, and threw chopped onion in with the beef. I also used frozen broccoli, because I'm lazy. =) The sauce was perfect and was terrific over rice. I think this recipe could be easily adapted to accomodate whatever ingredients you have on hand - and I think it might freeze well (I'm going to make extra next time and try freezing the leftovers to see how it goes). Thanks so much - this one's going to be committed to my memory!

Yummy soup on a cold winter day. I had to stir constantly to keep the bottom from burning, but it was worth it in the end. Will make again!

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Yummy! I was full after one bowl of this soup, but it was so good I had to have a second bowl. Easy to make (even for a college student like me) and very tasty.
