Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2002
Best bread machine recipe for pizza dough I've found. I used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Texture of the dough made it easy to roll out and it tastes great.

Grilled Pork Chops with Summertime Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
I like this one. The meat is juicy and the flavor is slightly spicy. I served it with lentils and steamed broccoli, and the salsa was great on the lentils. Left out the mint because we don't care for it.

Pear Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
I consider myself a pretty good cook, but not a very good baker. Also, I don't like anything too sweet. May that's why I liked this so much. It was easy and delicious, and my husband, who DOES like sweets, loved it too.

Julie's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
We really enjoyed this combination. I used leftover grilled chicken breasts the last time I made it, and it was even better.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
Thought this was fabulous, restaurant-quality (and I live in Napa Valley). My husband is not fond of salmon, so I made his portion with cod -- he loved it, but believe me, the salmon was much, much better.

Cuban Ropa Vieja

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
Loved this. Had to change the cooking method since my slow cooker disappeared last time I moved. So I just compromised, cooked it 5 1/2 hrs. on my stove's lowest setting. A slow oven would probably work too. Like most slow-cooked meats, it was better the next day.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I was in the mood for a chicken and pasta meal -- imagine my delight when I opened this site and this was the featured recipe. I also used marinated artichoke hearts and recommend that change. Leftovers were surprisingly good cold the next day!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
Wow! This really worked, and you truly don't have top soak the beans. My house smelled like a Mexican restaurant! This one is a keeper for those occasions when you can't be home to cook beans all day.

Cheddar and Olive Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2003
I lost a very similar recipe years ago and couldn't remember the proportions. This is a great appetizer -- I also used cayenne instead of paprika.

Thai Pork Satay

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
This was really good and pretty easy. I didn't have a lemon, but I substituted lime, which was fine. Also, I couldn't get the water chestnuts to stay on the skewers, but that added entertainment value.

Curried Tilapia with Mango Salsa

Had lots of tilapia in the freezer and this recipe made it all disappear. Easy and good.

Mediterranean Black Olive Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
Great texture -- crusty outside, soft inside. I made the dough in my bread machine, then gave it one more rise and baked. Delicious!

Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
Very versatile recipe. Love the spiciness. It's already become a regular at our house. I even made it without any meat, and it was still good.

Blue Cheese Cole Slaw

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
This is really good! The blue cheese kind of melts into the dressing for a pretty subtle flavor. I halved the mustard and went light on the sugar, and we really enjoyed the results!

Poppy Seed Onion Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
I love the taste of this bread, but a full tablespoon of yeast is too much! I cut it down to 2 1/4 tsp., and will try 2 tsp. next time -- it just rose too much!

Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Great bean salad...neither too sweet nor not sweet enough. I used dried pintos and garbanzos, along with canned green beans, and did not have to go to the grocery store because I had everything on hand. Surprisingly, it was NOT better the second day as some things are...eat it the day you make it. Just a comment though: this is NOT vegan. It has honey in it.

Greater than the sum of its parts. Really tasty! I served it with jasmine rice and an Asian cucumber salad. Yum!
