Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
These were delicious, easy, and so much better than store-bought! I put them directly on the oven rack for 5 minutes, then cooled half in damp towl and half in paper bag. They came out the same, so don't stress your cooling method. Next time I may add in some whole-wheat flour....

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
These are great! I used 3/4c plus 2 T buttermilk instead of milk and vinegar. They were just like a restaurant's!

Sour Cream Chicken Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
This was great! I substituted ham (I have so much leftover from Christmas!) and added a little dijon to the milk mixture. I also omitted the nutmeg and added a sprinkle of ground cloves and cayenne, and used green onions instead of the onion and bell pepper. Delish!

Kate's Light n' Fluffy Buttermilk and Chocolate Chip Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
Well, I didn't have half the ingredients but I was determined to make these!!! I used 3/4 c. buttermilk and 1/2 c. whole milk, omitting the buttermilk powder and cream, and substituted canola oil for the butter. I am notorious for not following directions, and this was no exception. I mixed the wet ingredients together, added the dry ingredients, and everything came out fine. I also added a dash of salt and a tablespoon of sugar, per previous reviews. They were a hit with my son, who is kind of picky!!!

Miriam's Not-So-Secret Challah

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I made this in the bread machine and halved the recipe for just one loaf. I needed an egg bread for french toast and bread pudding, and this turned out beautifully! I did have to use almost 4 c. of flour for a half recipe, though.

Norwegian Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
These were delightful, and I cannot accurately describe the delicious vanilla aroma that filled the house :) I was a little worried about how thin the batter was, but they turned out great!

Mammaw's Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
These were just what I have been looking for. They taste like the waffles I remember as a kid. I make "hot" breakfast at least 5 days a week, so I have been through a TON of waffle recipes. This is my new "go-to"!!!

I thought this was delicious, quick and easy for a weeknight. I used raw tail-on shrimp and added chopped tofu, peapods and shaved carrots. Wonderful!!!

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
These turned out perfect and I was a little apprehensive before I tried. It shouldn't be so easy to make such an impressive dessert!! :) I put my batter/dough into a ziploc freezer bag, cut off a corner, and piped onto the baking sheet. I made mine larger than suggested, so I only got 12 but it could have easily made more.

Shrimp and Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Really yummy, quick, light (I used a LOT less of both oil and butter) dinner. I forgot the parm but we all still loved it! Would be great with crusty bread to sop up the juices!

Easter Hot Cross Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2014
My British houseguest says these are exactly like his mum's, and my 11-year-old devoured them, so I guess that's four thumbs up!

Regina (Queen's Biscuit)

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
I suggest making a couple as a test-run. My first batch got too browned and I turned the heat down to 350. The second batch came out perfect after 12 minutes. Also, I am not one for "cutting in", so I creamed the shortening and sugar, added the egg, extract and cardamom, then mixed the dry ingredients separately and added all at once. Once that was mixed, I added the milk as recipe stated. One more thing, I didn't have enough sesame seeds for my whole batch, so I rolled a few in nonpareils, which the kids really liked!

Italian Anise Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
I too added a little imitation anise extract for more anise flavor. The house smells delightful, and the cookies taste just like I remember my mom's Italian aunts' cookies tasting!

Blueberry Breakfast Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
This was fantastic and I couldn't believe how simple it was, nor the fact that it turned out so well using frozen blueberries. I served with Vanilla Crepes. Yum!

Russian Black Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This recipe turned out delicious. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that it was too big for my bread machine and made a huge, burnt, doughy mess on the lid :( I will use this recipe again in the future and just make dinner rolls! It went perfectly with my corned beef and cabbage dinner.

Yummy Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
The taste and texture are 5 stars, but the dough was too loose to roll into balls, so I had to make them as "drop" cookies and then criss-cross. They came out very thin and flat. I added oats and chocolate chips to the remaining dough and they came out delicious!!

Overnight Berry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
This recipe gets 5 stars for taste, but I had the same problem as pp with the crumb topping completely sinking to the bottom, so it came out not so pretty, and totally stuck to the pan. I tried inverting the pan since all of the topping was on the bottom, but it caramelized to the pan and was a huge mess. Son and hubby loved it, and it was moist and delicious. Maybe next time will try to refrigerate overnight WITHOUT the topping and add it right before it goes in the oven.....

Super Easy Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2012
I made exactly the recipe as written, but for some reason the batter came out more like dough. I had to actually drop by spoonsful into the cupcake liners. They came out more like chocolate bread than cupcakes, and I wanted to glaze them, but I ended up with rough tops to my cupcakes. That being said, they are dense and delicious, and I ended up just frosting with a chocolate buttercream instead. They were a hit!

Vanilla Wafer Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
Good change from the normal graham cracker crust. I used my food processor, and pulsed the crumbs, butter, some orange zest and a little cinnamon sugar. I baked at 350 for 10 minutes, cooled, and filled with a pudding/cool whip mixture. Yum!
