I lived in japan for three and a half years, I loved all the Korean foods available there! I miss Japan a lot and will visit for 9 days with my husband in November (I live in Turkey now). Your blog made me miss Japan even more. What Japanese foods do you make? nihongo ga hanaseru deshou? rachel to mou shi masu. hajimemashi te :)

Do you have an easy, spicy Korean vegetarian or chicken recipe? Thank you - my family has never eaten Korean food so this will be something new.

Hi, mauigirl! Thanks for the welcoming. :) Have you tried the recipe on our site? (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Korean-Marinade/Detail.aspx) Try this recipe with some changes I would personally make: exclude flour, add 1 Asian pear (processed) and 1 onion (chopped). Make sure you marinate it overnight in the fridge, covered. Finally, the meat taste even better when you soak the meat in cold water for about an hour to get the blood out. Good luck!

Hi Tigerindy. A lot of Korean side dishes are spicy and vegetable recipes. I would like you to try Dakdoritang (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Korean-Spicy-Chicken-and-Potato-Tak-Toritang/Detail.aspx) with some changes: Use only 1 1/2Tbsp of Soysauce, and try sweet potatoes instead of potatoes. A couple of green chilli peppers will give you the kick that you are looking for. :) Make sure you use the authentic Korean pepper paste: Gochujang. ;)

Hi GloryChoe- Thank you for recommending the recipe, I will try it, sounds good. What if I can't find authentic Korean pepper paste? Is there something else I can use?

@tigerindy: Hi! For the best result, I highly recommend you use the Korean pepper paste (Gochujang). It's made with red chili powder and glutinous rice, fermented over years. I'm LOVE Korean food being 1/2 Korean we grew up eating alot of kimchi bulgogi, mandu (sorry for any misspelling)Japchae I am looking for some recipes on kalbi and bulgogi and I remember being younger my mom and I would spend hours making the dumplings.. every hour was so worth it!!! Thank you!!!
