Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Love the recipe but next time I'll splurge and use a better cut of meat. I marinated my flank steak but it was still chewy.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
I got nervous & separated the eggs after reading the other reviews. My cake came out perfect. I didn't cool the cake before pouring the liquid over. I let the liquid absorb overnight and iced it the next day. Next time I'll garnish with marachino cherries just for looks. For people who can tolerate a very sweet cake, this is to die for. I think it's the best Tres Leches cake I've ever eaten.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
I'm a super-picky chocolate cake eater but I'd give this 10 stars if I could. I'll never make another chocolate cake recipe again. I regret I had no liquor and had to use 1/2 cup strong coffee instead. It was excellent and we paired it with Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream which was delightful. My daughter complained about the lack of frosting UNTIL she tasted the cake. No frosting needed...

Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
Better than my Mom's family recipe. I add lots of Golden Raisins. Best eaten right out of the oven, warm. It loses something the next day. Love it with a little half n half drizzled over it.

That Good Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
I love to serve this to guests with a good bowl of soup and a wonderful, fresh loaf of bread. Makes a great, filling meal. As other reviewers advised, I made the dressing with half Olive Oil and half Vegetable Oil.

Spinach Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
I've never cared for Pesto but that's because I've never had it home-made. This was delicious and very quick. I will definitely use a garlic press to avoid big chunks that don't process down next time. Will double recipe in the future because this wasn't enough for a full box of pasta.

Fluffy Raspberry Torte

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
Delicious and looks GORGEOUS. Definitely a dessert to serve to company. My family of 4 ate the entire thing in about 24 hours. I'm not the biggest Raspberry fan but this was really excellent. My kids loved it, too. I followed recipe exactly as written and it came out 100% perfect.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
Everybody loves this version of Tuna Salad but I do prefer to use chopped pickles instead of relish and chopped onions instead of flakes. I also use oil packed tuna and don't drain it. Man, it is SO good that way. Without changes I'd only give it 4 stars.

Green Beans with Cherry Tomatoes

Made it exactly like recipe stated and it was great. Colorful presentation and tasted great. Putting it into my side dish rotation!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
I ruined this recipe by putting it in the oven for the last 30 minutes, as stated in directions. Meat became stringy and icky. It was perfect before putting it in oven. I cooked on High for 4 hours; turned crockpot off and then had to leave the house unexpectedly. 3 hours later I came home and shredded the meat (which was still hot) It was *PERFECT* at that point so I shouldn't have cooked it in oven. Should've just added BBQ sauce & served right away. I'm giving it 4 stars since the texture is worse after baking, if you follow the directions.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
As other reviewers suggested I added a chicken cube to the sauce & french fried onions to the top. I also doubled the cheese. It's a good, solid comfort food recipe for weeknights but didn't look pretty enough for guests. Nonetheless I'll be putting it into my regular rotation because I really enjoyed it!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2012
I agree it takes longer to bake than 45 minutes. If top starts to get too brown, just loosely lay a piece of foil over. I baked until it wasn't jiggly at all in the middle and next time I'll remove when it's slightly jiggly because it continues to cook after removing from oven.

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
If you don't like scallops, try substituting sliced Kielbasa sausage (browned in frying pan). Really delicious that way. I made it with Kielbasa & Shrimp for company and one little girl who is a super picky eater asked if she could take home the leftovers because she loved it so much. I'm going to thicken the sauce next time like other reviewers did. I didn't think it was thick enough which is the only reason I deducted a star.

Creamy Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
Great color and texture. But needed LOTS more seasoning than recipe stated. I'm giving 3 stars for recipe as written because it's very bland. But with extra seasoning it's 4-5 stars. Might try Truffle Oil on top like my local restaurant does.

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
I'd use a heartier noodle than egg noodles if I made this again. The casserole was just ok & had too much of a bite for my teenagers.
