Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Very good chili. I like celery so I use it. If you want to add more spices...then go ahead. I change things up depending what is in the pantry and fridge. Mushrooms, corn, carrots, spinach, a can of maple beans, the possibilities are endless...go ahead and add what you like in a chili, but this is a good base to start with.

Quick and Easy Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Finally I can make yorkshire again. It's been many years...I think the eggs have gotten smaller so 3 is a must. I've used both a muffin tin and a popover pan, the popover pan helps them rise a bit more. I love the butter, gives them a nice flavour and I find that the lower temp works out just fine...my old recipe called for 450 so I thought this couldn't work...but it does. My oven, like most new ones has even bake, so to get around this I use a cookie sheet on the top rack to deflect the heat so the yorkshires don't cook too much on top before they can start their rise.

Dr. Michael's Yeasted Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
Easy and very good. As other reviewers have said, it toasts up wonderfully the next day. I made it instead of rolls to accompany a ham dinner. Everyone loved it.

Delicious and they did stay soft. My husband loves the soft cookies and since my regular one gets hard I thought I'd try this. He loved them.

Mmmm. Loved it. Came out nice and moist and a lovely flavour...very tropical, not at all bland like many zucchini breads.

Uncooked Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
Very good, easy, just the right amount of banana flavour. I did subtitute astro balkan style yogurt for the sour cream. I use yogurt instead of sour cream, it gives a milder flavour, and from another reviewer, I also stir some lemon juice into the banana slices before using. Family loves this recipe.

Arancini

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
Love it! I made it into a flat cake with my hamburger press, then breaded and pan fried it...very good. I'll add a bit more herbs aand garlic though next time. Alot like a red rice cake I had at a swanky restaurant.

Gurkensalat (German Cucumber Salad)

My mom always made a salad like this. (she was from Germany). I've been making it too, but with parsley and chives and a tiny dab of yellow mustard. It's a nice and refeshing summer salad.

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2012
Fantastic recipe. Yes, you do need a spoon to put them into muffin tins as the dough is a soft no knead batter. If you use butter flavour crisco you get a nice buttery flavour.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
This is almost the same as a recipe I've been using for over 20yrs. The changes are...1/4 tsp nutmeg, use shortening instead of the butter or marg, in the batter(the batter stays whiter) and before you bake, drizzle the melted butter (use butter for this part) over top of each muffin and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mix, then bake.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
Have made this twice now. Once subbing 1/2c flr with whole wheat. This made it a bit denser but still delicious. The white bread is so soft and fluffy, it filled the 2lb breadmaker. By far the best machine bread. I'll be making this at least once a week. Thank you so much!

Rhubarb Custard Pie V

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Very easy, similar to one I have used for years. The only difference my calls for a meringue topping. Use a meringue recipe that calls for 3egg whites and cook it the same way as for lemon meringue pie. Adds a nice finishing touch.

I have made this several times....best with double the fruit. I've also used raspberries and blueberries instead when available. Very good and so easy. Spring is here again...I'll give it another 5stars. Very good with the vanilla sauce.
