Grilled Sea Bass

Made as written except doubled the spices and only used 1 pound of fish (so 4X the spice). AMAZING restaurant quality dish, next time I will serve with rice. Also I used black bass caught on our fishing trip. A keeper!

Mistakenly Zesty Pork Chops

Followed the recipe exactly, except barbecued the chops. I found there was way too much soy sauce and this overpowered the taste. Would have been better with less and maybe a touch of rice wine vinegar. Won't make again.

Pasta Primavera with Smoked Gouda

This was OK, but admittedly I tasted it as it was cooking and added the much needed salt and pepper; also had to add more tomatoes. As written, this was not a good recipe. With moderations, it's still not a keeper.

Mojo Grilling Marinade

This was just ok. There are much better marinade recipes on this site. I expected more flavor...I even needed to add salt after grilling, which is unusual. Not a keeper for me.

Zucchini Cake III

I tried to make this cake twice. The first time it never baked even after 90 minuted it was still gooey. I thought it was because I used cake flour because I was out of regular. The next time, it was still too raw after 90 minutes of baking with regular flour, although not as gooey. What a waste of ingredients.

No-Cream Pasta Primavera

This was just OK. I went the extra step and grilled the veggies in a grill basket instead of baking. That was the best part. Definitely don't skip the balsamic. Used lemon thyme in addition to the zest. Would make my own version again, but not this one as written.

Tropical Grilled Pork Chops

This would have been 5 stars except for the fact that I had to make a change to the recipe. I cut the sugar in half, but it was still too sweet. With all the fruit, even though I used unsweetened pineapple and applesauce, there is no need to add more sugar. I tasted it partway through and stopped after adding half the amount called for. Next time I will omit the sugar, and then it will be 5 stars!

Amazing Southwest Cilantro Lime Mango Grilled Chicken Sandwiches

I used tortillas instead of bread, warmed on the grill. I also had read that peaches are a good substitute for mangoes, and as they are in season I used them instead and grilled them for a few minutes along side the vegetables to bring out the sweetness...really similar to a ripe mango. I have a salsa recipe which has the exact ingredients as this recipe that I had canned last summer, and used that, so it really cut the prep time. If you're going to use tortillas I would suggest 50% more chicken as there was only enough for 4 with 1 pound.

Marinated Ranch Broiled Chicken

This was just ok...everyone doused it with barbecue sauce, even after marinating for several hours. Not strong enough flavors, just ok. If you plan on dousing your chicken in barbecue sauce anyway this recipe would add a bit more flavor. Otherwise keep looking.

This was delicious! I absolutely thought I was back by the beach. Didn't change a thing. So easy, and only marinated about 45 minutes while I got everything else ready. A keeper!

Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake

This was OK...I would probably have liked it better if I had not added the vanilla and pudding to the Cool Whip as other reviewers suggested. That added a real artificial taste to it. Next time I will stick with the recipe...I have made this before as written and the Cool Whip alone is just OK on top, which is why I opted for the moderations this time. Either way it's just a 3 star recipe.

Heavenly White Cake

This was just a weird cake. A little dense, but not bad. WAY too salty, which is why I think some people thought it tasted like cornbread. More like a cross between sweet cornbread and angel food cake. I did use the extra half cup of milk, and folded in the egg whites. The taste was just off. Maybe try decreasing the salt and for Pete's sake use unsalted butter!

Four Egg Yellow Cake

I saw the shortening in the recipe and hesitated, but thought hey! This is something different, might be a good change. Wrong! It had an off flavor. I suppose if you substituted butter for the shortening it would be better, but...then it would be more like a pound cake. At least the texture was fluffy. Out of my recipe box you go!

Hideous cake recipe! Those that rate it 4-5 stars have all changed it to make it edible. Bland! And I have discovered that cinnamon and cherries do not go well together!
