Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2013
I've made this frosting a number of times and can't believe I haven't reviewed it! I love cream cheese so this was right up my alley! I made it just the way it says and it's perfect! I used it on Dark Chocolate Cake II on this site! Yum! I also freeze any left over and use a month or two later and it's still perfect! Thanks so much for this, Janni!

Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2013
I forgot to review the first time I made this a couple of months ago! Since there are only the two of us I froze the leftovers and had two more meals! So I decided today I wanted this again, fortunately I was already on my way to the grocery store. Just want to say like a number of other reviewers, follow the recipe exactly!! I did, with some doubt, and it was perfect. So I'm doing it again today!

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2013
Yum! These are really good! I followed the recipe and yes, it was a very wet and sticky batter, but I just scooped out the batter and put into muffin pan! I'll be making them again! ??

The Best Ugly Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
I almost didn't try this but boy am I glad I did! I only left it upside down for an hour, since it was only 9 1/2 pounds, and the breast was NOT dry, for the first time! Thanks so much! It wasn't even that ugly?

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
I made these yesterday with a few altercations. I really liked the Cappuccino Brownies but one of the reviewers said these were better and to just add instant expresso. So that is what I did! Unfortunately I did overcook them a bit but they are really, really good. I also used Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder so they were even more chocolatety! I am a dark-chocolateholic! I will not overcook them next time and there will be a next time!

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
I took two of other reviewers ideas and this came out perfect. First, I turned up the heat and stirred like crazy,no cornstarch and it was perfect! I only added 1/2 cup of pecans and 1/2 cup of coconut and again that was perfect for both me and my husband! Thanks for a grat recipe! I'll be making this again!

Old-Fashioned Peach Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
My first mother-in-law used to make peach butter and I loved it! I wanted to try but found most of the recipes on the Internet had cinnamon, ect. I wanted just peach butter not peach butter trying to be apple butter. So I adapted this one to what I thought would work. Just peaches, sugar and lemon juice. That's it!! And this turned out great! That's the picture of it that I posted! Thanks at least for the starting place!

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
I rated this 4 stars because I did change it a bit. I basically followed what another reviewer (Emma p) suggested. I actually forgot to use a little cinnamon, but it turned out great! I heated the oven to 400 and then turned it off and put the cookie sheet in the oven for an hour or so and it turned out fantastic. Nice and crunchy! Thanks, Emma!

Frijoles a la Charra

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
I made this yesterday and it turned out pretty good. I did use fresh jalapenos, a small (7oz) bottle of Corona and a can of diced tomatoes instead. I also substituted Knorr chicken with tomato boullian for some of the water. The beans I had must have been fresh since it only took about 3 hours on High and 2 hours on Low in crock pot. I was worried about the beans after reading a lot of the reviews, that's why so long on high. This all tasted very very good but I was looking more for the Boracho (sp) beans I used to get at some restaurants in San Antonio. I'll keep looking. But I'll use this recipe again. The beans were that good!

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
WOW!!! This was great, thanks to Karen H's review! I followed her advise to a T, and this rice was wonderful! My husband was a little worried at first but he liked it too! I didn't put in the green pepper and forgot the cilantro (my husband doesn't like it but I was going to put a little in mine but forgot! I will remember next time) I will definitely be making this again! My daughters' boyfriend makes great rice but I think this is just as good!

Greek Easter Cookies from Smyrna

These are pretty close to the ones I used to get at the neighborhood bakery when I lived outside Athens when my husband was stationed there when in the Air Force. This picture is close to what they looked like!!

Dark Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This is so easy and very good! Next time (and there will definitely be a next time!) I'll try buttermilk and will buy higher quality cocoa. I've seen other chocolate recipes that add coffee or espresso powder but have never tried them, I'm glad I did, I'm sure it made the difference! Thanks!

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Since I couldn't find raspberry vinegar I made some using Raspberry Vinegar I on this site. I've been looking for a recipe like this for over 10 years, since a favorite restaurant closed! I used only half the sugar and will cut that even more next time! I also used extra virgin olive oil. Because of these changes I could only rate it 4! Now it's 5+!

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
I only rated it 4 stars because I did change some things. I used most of Chuck's suggestions. A little wine instead of some of the water, a little Worchester sauce and more than doubled the cornstarch mixture. I didn't have any celery so I added about a cup of frozen peas with about 15 minutes to go and it was great! My husband liked it too! Thanks!

Black Bean, Corn and Red Pepper Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
I used red wine vinegar, added a can of petite diced tomatoes and the juice of one lime and it is great now! I tried it once with rice vinegar and decided I preferred red wine vinegar instead. I used a couple of green onions instead of a quarter cup of red onions, since it was easier and that was really good too! I eat it mostly as a salad. I love it!!

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
I was put off by this one because of the soy sauce, but after I read the reviews I dropped the soy sauce and added a little white wine instead. I should have added a little more salt but I forgot. I won't next time. I lived in a suburb of Athens when my husband was still active duty Air Force and this souvlaki brought back all kinds of pleasant memories. It smelled wonderful while grilling and tasted wonderful. My husband thought so too. I made my own recipe of tzakiki and had some fresh French bread (which isn't quite as good as bread from a neighborhood Greek bakery but you take what you can get in Texas. Thanks so much for this recipe. I will definitely make this again!!
