WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies

I ended up with dry, raisin-ey hockey pucks. The silver lining is that this recipe made me even more thankful that we won the war.

Gooseberry Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
Good flavor, but you may want to add more pectin. I had fantastic gooseberries, but this recipe produced a runny product. Unfortunately, there are no "do-overs" when making jam.

Alice Chicken

I truly can't understand the rating for this dish. The Worcestershire is overpowering, and the bacon and cheese don't seem to belong here. None of the flavors "click" together. Your chicken would probably be happier in another recipe.

Crazy Cake

This is a great cake! I opted to make cupcakes and they turned out very well. Very moist. I will make this again.

Crispy Fried Fish

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This is some of the best fried fish I have ever prepared. Although egg and beer are used in the batter, this is not the poofy/greasy batter that is associated with "beer batter" fish. I used tilapia and Andy's fish breading, just because that's what I had and it turned out great. Still added the seasonings as listed here, minus salt. I think the keys to the success of this dish are the Cajun seasonings and the way it is prepared. Once you get everything set up, the process goes pretty quickly. My husband has proclaimed that this is the way we shall fry all fish from now on! Thanks for a great recipe.

This didn't work for me. It stuck to the pan and never got completely done.

Bourbon Whipped Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
I should have tried this prior to serving it to guests. My mistake/my lesson learned. This must just not work unless you use it immediately. I made this for a dinner partyand chilled it, as stated, for about an hour before I used it. Unfortunately, it became a sloppy soup for the cake I had prepared. I felt confident making this the day of the party due to the good reviews here. Even after I made it, the flavor was so subtle that I felt it was not worth the work. I don't understand the great ratings here. I only gave this one star because I had to give it something to rate it at all.
