Cornbread I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
Just like my Missouri-born Mom used to make it with one difference. We use bacon grease instead of shortening and the flavor is excellent. We usually make it in a square baking pan and heat the bacon grease in the pan, roll it around to coat the pan and pour what's left into the batter.

You might try it with apple cider instead of water or tea for an interesting change.

Mom's Country Gravy

If you want real country flavor, brown the flour in sausage grease (my favorite) or bacon grease. Also, try it with buttermilk.

Chicken Wing Dip

This is a great recipe, however I would suggest that you start with maybe a third of a cup of pepper sauce and add sauce from there until it gets to the hotness you like. 3/4 cup was a lot to begin with

Ultimate French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Just like my mom used to make except she added white sugar and nutmeg. I like it custardy and don't need the maple syrup. My wife does put syrup or powedered sugar on hers.
