Lobster Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2013
My first time making lobster rolls. They were great! My husband is from the New England area and had actually never had one. He dislikes mayonnaise so I added some extra lemon juice to cut the flavor, I added about the whole lemon. I also added cayenne pepper instead of hot sauce. These were wonderful! I will definitely make these again. :)

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Thank you, Grandma Ople! I use this recipe every time I make apple pie. My husband isn't an apple pie fan, but when I make this recipe he cannot get enough! We're big fans of the almost "candy" texture the sauce gives the lattice crust! (I always cut out leaf shapes with cutters and arrange on the apples.) I used a recipe for french pastry dough for the crust, I also sprinkle the apples lightly with a cinnamon-sugar mixture before covering with leaves and the sauce. I used Red Delicious apples instead of Granny Smith, to cut a bit of the tang. (Cooking for a picky husband :) and it was a hit!! So sweet, buttery, and flavorful. I recommend the cinnamon-sugar and Red Delicious apples! (: Thank you again for the amazing recipe!!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
This is a great recipe! I had never had bread pudding but I had some delicious buttery rolls I purchased at Kroger that were about to get hard and unappetizing. I went on the search for a bread pudding recipe and I think this is the one I will stick with! I did make a few adjustments: I only added 3 eggs, 4 seemed to be a bit much. With only 3 the texture is to die for. My mom, who's grandmother used to make her bread pudding nearly every time her bread grew old, told me the texture was spot on. I also added a generous sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to the top before baking. Thanks again for the great recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
This icing had perfect texture and a glossy finish, it was easily shaped and spread on the cookie, but the flavor was awful, it was so sickly sweet I couldn't stand to eat one. They looked great, but looks were very deceiving.

Hamburger Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
I didn't even attempt the original ingredients due to how much negativity I read on it, but I made a version which blew me and my family away! I used 1&1/2 lb turkey meat I had seasoned before browning, 1/2 pkg AU JUS mix, 1 can condensed vegetable beef soup, I turned the 3 3/4 cup water into chicken broth using 3 chicken bullion cubes, 1 can diced tomatos, 1 c chopped onion, 1 large potato, 3 carrots and 1 celery stalk. I used the same basic directions and added dried basil, garlic powder and gracious amount of salt and pepper. The Au Jus was just perfect as a base, I was not sure about Taco Seasoning but I am not a big fan of the seasoning anyways. This version was fantastic and filled the house full of a great soupy smell! It stays in your tummy and goes amazing with french bread. Please try this version out!
