My first pie! Raspberry Lemonade Pie aka Sweetie Pie-Kraft Canada recipe)
Husband's 24th Birthday Cake (Black Forest Delight - Kraft Canada recipe)
About this Cook
Newly married and ready to take on the task of cooking! I love the art and science of cooking and I am always learning new things about this new found passion of mine. I am a Christian, and I live in Edmonton with my husband. We are both 24 years old and living in a downtown apartment. I hope to (one day) have many children and my cooking skills honed and perfected so that I can teach my children how to prepare dishes at a young age. I am excited to learn and grow in this area!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts, experimenting with chocolate, creating casseroles and figuring out what tastes the best!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grama was a professional cake decorator and so I've always looked up to her in that respect. I hope to be nimble enough to decorate fascinating cakes one day. She always included me when I went to visit her in Winnipeg, baking and making chocolate candies.
My cooking triumphs
Well i made my first pie (I called it 'Sweetie Pie') for my husband when he came home from working up north as a medic. It was great! It was a cold pie, raspberry and lemonade sort of a mousse with a graham crust on the bottom and sides. I even used too much lemonade and I thought I ruined it, but it turned out just fine. I also made my first cake (Black Forest Delight- on the Kraft website) for my husband's birthday this summer. It was wonderful! I was very happy with how it turned out, although the frosting could have been smoother. :)
My cooking tragedies
I just can't seem to make good muffins. They always turn out 'stunted' as my husband calls them (haha...) because I just don't fill the cups enough. I remember one time I didn't read the oven temperature correctly and I was waiting for nearly 2 hours for these muffins to cook at a really low temperature. I got the fahrenheit and celsius mixed up. The muffins were just terrible! There have been other tragedies that I prefer not to go on about, but I'm also sure there will be more!

These were great! I followed the recipe to a 'T' and they turned out just lovely. Great to make them plain and spread on some butter and jam with a cup of tea!

Grilled Halibut with Cilantro Garlic Butter
This was a really tasty fish recipe. I felt that I should have had more of the cilantro garlic butter I'm making it next week and I will be doubling this entire recipe so that there are leftovers ;) My husband loved it!
