My Country Style Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2007
We had this last night and it was really good. I did make some changes... First I had more meat but only one pack of Dry Onion soup. I used Tastefully Simple Onion onion to add a little more oomph without as much salt. I also didn't bother to dredge the meat first. Instead as the small pieces were browing in a little oil, I sprinkeled the flour on top and stired it up to coat. Then added water and milk.

Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
Oh so easy and oh so wonderful. We tend to stay away from fried foods, but these with their thick cuts of tomato didn't seem greasy at all. We loved them and will most likely be making them again

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
a couple of changes for us... First used 1/2 cup splenda sugar blend and added a ton (2 1/2 cups) raisens second didn't chill, but instead spread out onto a lightly greased jelly roll pan 3rd baked at 350 for about 5 minutes longer 4th cut into about 72 small bar cookies. Saved a lot of time rolling and smushing. and then I have lots of little chewy cookies for my family.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
Oooooh... this is good! I haven't even finished cooking it yet and I know it is good. So glad I didn't have anything for dinner tonight and looked up sloppy joes. I think the family will gobble this down.

Simple Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2004
These were just OK flavor wise. The batter was very thin - more Like creps. I used this recipe because I had forgotten to make the Yeast pancake batter the night before, and I didn't have enough Bisquick. Though that little bit of bisquick saved this batter. Was just enough to thicken it up the runny mess.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2004
I only used the Dough and Technique from this recipe. But isn't that the fun of cooking - Winging it with what's on hand? The technique for grilling worked well on our Charcoal grill. Just control the air flow to the coals. You want it hot, but not nucular meltdown. For ease of use our first time out, we made 4 small pizzas rather than the 2 larger ones. The first two we cooked were a little thicker and didn't turn out as nice as the second batch that I made a touch thinner. Moving them off the grill to add the toppings helped a lot. Also turning the dough to avoid hot spots and evenly cook is advised. This isn't an item you can walk away from while it is cooking. But the cooking is so quick you won't feel like a slave.

Yeast Pancakes

Reviewed: May 30, 2004
I've been tweaking this recipe for our own use. I started by adding blue berries and have taken off with it. With more batches, I have learned not to stir down the batter too much in the morning - otherwise you end up with flat, rubber disks. I found that the batter was better as it came up to room temp especially if I stired it too much. I still want to try adding diced apple, but so far have been Vetoed by the family. Blueberries are their favorite.

Adobo Chicken with Ginger

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2003
OMG the chicken is amazing!!! The only change I made was that I had Skinless Chicken Leg Quarters, multi colored Pepper corns and after straining I cooked frozen Stir fry veggies in the sauce. Recipe lends itself to using chicken that isn't quite thawed. The cooking style ensures they thaw and cook corretly. I served it over a bowl of steamed Rice. Get a rice cooker and some good rice - it makes a meal like this.

My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2003
Needed a little longer cooking time than stated and could have used more than one 12 ounce package of chocolate chips. Had some cookies with large voids with the ammount I used. I gave it 5 stars because the flavor was good and would make them again - but with more chocolate or maybe some nuts added to keep the cookie full.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2003
I found this recipe was better after I had it in the freezer a while. I only used part of the recipe the first time and froze the rest. when I pulled it out of the freezer it was still half frozen... I used it as is by leaving the lump on top of a pan of country style ribs I threw in the oven. It melted beautifully over the ribs and was wonderful.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Was the biggest cheese cake I have ever made. The husband managed to finish it off in one weekend so it must have been good. next time I think I will make a half batch and save a couple inches on my sweetie's love handles.

Banana Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2002
Turned out great. I did make some substitutions when I made this bread. I used Fructose instead of sugar, and 10 Grain Cereal in the place of the oats. Cause of this I baked it at a lower temp and for a little longer than called for. Turned out great. Also added walnuts... was super!

Original Cheese Tempters

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2002
I found that it was a little greasy... Maybe due to the real cheese and the butter. Also ended up adding some garlic and black pepper to them and omiting the nuts. Husband hated these. Asked me never to cook cheese again because of them.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
We loved this bread. We did end up making it by hand since I don't have a heavy duty mixer with dough hooks. I used Nora Mill's 10 Grain instead of Just Oats. Made a wonerfully Hearty bread. Not to heavy, not too light. Perfect. I also broke the dough down into 4 1.5 loaves, because my pans were big. Froze and thawed Also made great bread. Great time saver. Make once have fresh bread when needed.

Squaw Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2001
My husband just loves this bread. He requests it all the time. actually had to buy a long slot toaster so he could fit a whole slice off the round loaf in at once. (cutting it in half didn't do it for him must be)
