Dad's Pad Thai

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Anybody else get confused and screw up making this based on the way the instructions were written???? The way step 2 reads, I mixed the egg, kept reading then added the lime juice, ketchup... etc. Got to the end of the sentence and saw it was supposed to be in a separate bowl. It should read: 2. Beat Eggs with a pinch a salt. In a separate bowl mix together Lime Juice, Ketchup ... etc. Despite screwing it up it did tasted pretty good so I will give it 4/5 stars. I found it need more sugar and improvement on direction. Then again, maybe I am just slow or something.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
This wasn't bad. I eat a fair amount of Pad Thai, but don't often make it at home. I thought i'd give this a shot as it would be nice to have some Pad Thai at home when the craving strikes - and save some money in the process. I made as directed, only doubled the sauce as I like my pad thai saucy. I also used Lime not Lemon. It was good... but not great. It was easy, which is a huge bonus and it full filled my Thai craving. I would make this again, as it's fairly quick and simple but I am also willing to keep looking for that 'keeper' recipe. I thank you for sharing!

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
I made this using all the proper ingredients, just changed the method. Rather than using a blender I just mashed the cooked broccoli with a potato masher. It turned out soooo good. The whole family loved it, including my 11 month old son. Will add to my permanent collection. Thank you so much for sharing. UPDATE: I tried this recipe again and added about 1/4c of Velveeta cheese.. and WOW... incredible. Very nice Cream of Broccoli and Cheddar version!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
My father in-law has had countless people attempt to make rice pudding that he likes (aunts, sister in-laws, co-workers, friends) and nothing even came close to his 'grans'... most of them he called 'garbage'. I thought I'd give it a shot (and my only shot) with this recipe. After tasting it, he said I was officially the family rice pudding maker. He loved it... said it was the best he's ever had (second to his Grans'). I made it several times now and still loves it! Thank you for sharing your recipe and making me his 'favorite daughter in-law'!

Salsa II

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
Excellent! I doubled the recipe and cut down on the spice (I have young kids who love salsa) I ended up using, 1 tsp of Cayenne and 3 jalapenos (for a double batch) turned out to be a flavourful mild recipe - perfect for my kids. The double batch made 11 500ml jars.

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
Absolutely delicious. The flavor was soooo good! I did what other reviewers suggested by cooking the rice first. I won't do it next time as I found the rice to be somewhat mushy.

Pizza Swirls

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
Working in a pizza restaurant for about 10 years makes me a bit of a pizza snob... I didn't except to like this as much as I did - I mainly made them for my 3 year old. Made as directed, I only did my own toppings as my kid wouldn't eat black olives. I did up a roll lightly sauced, cheese and chopped pepperoni and they rolled together nicely. I did a roll with a bit more sauce, pepperoni, chopped mushroom and bacon and it was more difficult to roll, but the end result was better. If you can handle the dough I suggest adding a good portion of sauce. The dough turned out wonderful and was very easy to handle. Thanks so much for sharing!

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
These were really good... I made as directly except for one thing. When putting the ingredients in your bread machine, you should put the salt in BEFORE the flour. If you put it in after the flour you run the risk of your yeast touching the salt, which could 'burn' the yeast, thereby causing problems for the dough to rise. I typically add the liquids, salt, sugar, seasoning, etc., before adding the flour, then of course the yeast.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
This is great. I agree with other reviewers, DO NOT add more macaroni, when you first add the macaroni (before putting it in the oven) it really does look like a soupy mess, but as it cooks it thickens and sets. wow - so good. Perfect consistancy!

My brother made these for me last night... and WOW, fantastic! Tasted just as a good if not better than restaurant chicken fingers. He made as directed, but marinated overnight rather than the instructed 2-4 hours. Thanks for Sharing.
