About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Food. give me a recipe, I'll make it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my wife and I had children, and he grandmother was getting on in years, I began making gingerbread houses the way her grandmother had, and while my level of intricacy has differed from year to year, I've always enjoyed putting them together for the kids to devour.
My cooking triumphs
Valentine's day, first year my then girlfriend-now-wife were going out I made shrimp scampi (from raw) -w- long grain and wild rice, green beans and almond slivers, and a full sized baked Alaska. I was 16.
My cooking tragedies
Occasionally, there's been an "inspired" recipe, with me making something totally new from scratch based on things I have on hand...luckily I have a loving wife who will try at least one bite of anything I make before gently breaking the news to me if it's of dubious quality.

Eskimo Cookies
This is a recipe from the 50's from a kid's cookbook, so yes, the reviews saying this sounds like a kid's recipe are right, it is. Hey, it's a no bake cookie, almost all of which are kid's recipes. You can keep the butter slightly lighter, but not by much, or these will crumble. Also, I'm sorry, you can't substitute margarine in this. Functionally it works, but it just won't taste right.
