Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
This was great...my family loved it. I used a 13" pizza pan, left about an inch of space around the edge...cooked at 335 degrees. Will make this often.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2004
I am not a soup eater. This is without a doubt the BEST thing I've ever tasted! I omitted the salt. -kept everything else the same. Incredible taste is all I can say. As for the servings, it wasn't 8 servings at our home, seemed more like 4. I am making a double batch right now...2 nights in a row.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2003
These were great. I didn't add nuts or sprinkle the tops with sugar (why?). Instead of the oil I used about 2-3 tbsp of Mayo--I always use Mayo in baking for moistness! I sprayed the muffin pan with PAM but next time I will definately use muffin liners....the chocolate chips sank to the bottom and most were quite gooey at the bottom which made the bottom stick and get all blobby--I think I will use less chocolate chips next time and might push the chips in from the top and see if they don't sink as much. My kids loved them....the flavor is great--I didn't find these heavy at all. I didn't sprinkle the tops with sugar because they were VERY sweet to begin with..it would be like sprinkling sugar on a candy bar! Oh and I thought the batter seemed thin (not a problem) and I made 18 regular sized muffins--not 12 as the recipe says.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2003
I made this for my husband's birthday lastnight. I have 7 kids and they said it was the best ice cream cake ever!! I used a deep dish glass pie plate. I used vanilla ice cream and regular sized chips a hoy cookies. I didn't make the last addition of ice cream into balls, I just did it like the first one--smooth.This is a recipe you can really be creative with.--by changing the type of cookie, adding Twix, recees etc around the side, sprinkiing m&m's on top....changing the flavor of ice cream etc. when we have company over, I thought I'd double the recipe and make it in a longer pan etc. You can't really go wrong with this recipe. I kept it covered while it was freezing to avoid the ice cream tasting like the freezer.

Onion Rings

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2003
Are there even words to express how GOOD these are? we are a family of 9 and we all loved these. I have never made onion rings before.I had a bunch of brown onions and needed to use them up.I used buttermilk pancake mix that said to mix with water, not milk.I added some salt, pepper and seasoning salt.Love at first bite.Somebody pinch me...have I ever tasted anything so good?My 12 yr old screamed when she ate these! I added too much salt to the second batch...had to throw them away...better go easy on the salt, you can always salt them when they are done. These are the bomb!

Frosted Pecan Bites

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2002
My husband really liked these but the kids didn't like it and I tried to like it but couldn't. They weren't bad but they were extremely rich and maybe I am not a pecan person. Because they are so rich, I can't imagine eating more than a couple at a time.

Green Sauce Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
this was great. My kids wouldn't touch it, but my husband and I liked it a lot. I used flour tortillas and ended up making about 8 filled (fairly large) tortillas. I had a LOT of filling mixture left over.--which I could eat by itself it is so good. My dh took the leftovers to work and he NEVER does that, so I know he liked it!

Grandma's Moist Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2002
This was alright. I made it in a bundt pan. I was too busy to frost it, which made the kids mad. It was a little too sweet and much more like a pound cake as someone else mentioned. I am looking for something lighter. Don't think I will make this again.

Salad with Artichokes

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2002
We really liked this salad. We didn't eat the onions or artichoke hearts, but thought they added flavor. I was surprised how good this was. We've never eaten any other dressing besides ranch.--but you know you need to try new things when you start dipping everything you eat in ranch! I recommend this one!

Carne Guisada II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2002
This was ok. Kids wouldn't touch it. Husband ate it but didn't comment.-He always says something when he really likes the food. It reminds me of a similar recipe called Charley's slowcooker Mexican style meat from this website.--Charley's meat is VERY VERY good. This recipe wasn't bad but I don't think I'll make it again.

This is another good recipe. I made some without the parsley and didn't miss it. I would say the parsley is optional. VERY good.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2002
Our family really liked this chicken.I did it with 1/2 cup sugar as someone suggested and cooked with lid off. I ended up with no sauce left at the end--I used cut up chicken tender meat. Next time I will add some water, broccoli and serve with white rice(with a little soy sauce in it) and some pineapple on the side. I even liked it cold---would be good meat for a salad too.

Beef Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2002
This recipe was super easy and great. I did it with a little over a cup of uncooked egg noodles, 3 cubes of beef bouillon and at least double the water that the recipe called for. The whole family loved it-there were no leftovers! It tasted like more work went in to it. A keeper! I used regular stew meat and I think I cooked it for an hour to soften it a bit more.

Southern Style Banana Split Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2002
I made this for my husband's birthday last night. It was very good. It was a little rich so I am thinking next time I will either use half of the cream cheese or a little pudding instead. I think I'll skip the pineapple but that's just a personal preference. This will be a keeper.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2002
This was soooooooooooo good! I made it lastnight for my husband's birthday. I made it with green beans and potatoes. He said it tasted better than any restaurant. The kids liked it too. we were quiet during dinner-unless you count the snorting sounds, because we were busy inhaling the dinner. I'll never make ham another way. And why buy a Honeybaked ham? My ham cost less than $6 and was just as good. I used only 1 cup of honey and probably less cloves than the recipe calls for-and brown sugar instead of corn syrup. This ham was the best!!
