I also boiled mine and they came out perfect! I filled a med. sauce pan with water, once boiling added 2 TBS baking soda. After it dissolved I boiled each of the risen pretzels for about a minute. Placed on a stoneware baking sheet sprayed with oil, sprinkled with salt and baked according to recipe. These are a HUGE hit with my family. I took some to my son's Judo class and now have a date to teach another Mom how to make them. Next time I'm hitting up my fav. local New Mexican rest. for some Queso to dip them in.
