About this Cook
I am just a simple girl. I don't care for things that are too complicated! I love to sew, quilt and cook! I can bake most anything...I aspired to own my own bakery at one point...but it is still a dream! I love to decorate cakes, make pies, breads, cookies!
My favorite things to cook
I like to make breads (quick and yeast). I love cakes (plain and fancy decorated) Cookies are ok, they take a bit of time...
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I like to get in the kitchen and cook together, created meals for us or our family. He is an awesome chef! (self-taught) But puts Bobby Flay to shame! He has grilled prize winning pork ribs and brisket! His cooking pretty much melts in your mouth!
My cooking triumphs
Beef Wellington. My sisters wedding cake! My specialty is Cream puffs-my boys just love 'em!
My cooking tragedies
Red Velvet cupcakes that went flat after they were baked...so sad!

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage
Just like my grandmother used to make....I remember her making this when I was a young girl. She died before I learned to cook and didn't have the time for her to teach me. My husband and I both had German grandmothers and this recipe is absolutely the best!! Thank you for sharing!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
By far the best recipe for cornbread I have ever used! My family likes their cornbread a little sweet so I chose this recipe when looking. I was using the recipe on the bag of cornmeal...always dry and fell apart, so I went on a search for a good recipe. Read all the reviews and chose this one and I am sooo very glad I did! It is awesome, moist, just sweet enough and doesn't fall apart. My husband raves everytime I make it. Oh, and I make it in a cast iron skillet...WOW!! Thank you for sharing this recipe. And by the way....I didn't alter a thing!
