About this Cook
I'm a mother of three young children. I'm also a Cooking Instructor and this will be my 8th year. I grew up in Southern California and love all the fresh ingredients that we have here nearly all year long. My major in college was Food, Nutrition and Dietetics so my interest in food goes a long way back.
My favorite things to cook
I started out, like most, as a baker and although I think it's where my expertise lies, I prefer cooking. I like to try different and alternative methods of cooking. As much as I like to be creative and try new things, I do find myself going back to the old recipes I love so much.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is the evening before Thanksgiving Day, getting together to make the stuffing. I usually make two different kinds of stuffing. I provide the appetizers and wine and we all have a lot of fun in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
Many years ago when I was very young I was trying to impress a boyfriend with my pie making skills. Unfortunately, my pie crusts did not turn out well. Turns out my shortening was not as fresh as I thought it was and THAT was the culprit.

Buttermilk Pancakes II
These are the best pancakes I've ever made or eaten. Perfect, fluffy, light and delicious. I always keep Krusteaz around because the mix makes great pancakes but my kids went wild over these this morning. I didn't have any buttermilk so I added 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (you can also use cream of tarter) per cup of milk and let it stand for 15 minutes. We will be keeping this recipe in our high rotation.

Six Threes Ice Cream
I grew up eating this for special occasions in the 1960's and 1970's and had lost the recipe. I am so glad that I found it on this site. It is truly one of the best recipes for ice cream. It's sweet, tart and refreshing.
