About this Cook
I love to cook and bake- it's where I feel fulfilled. I have been cooking since I was 8. I learned that I have a passion for good food and cooking for family and friends was very satisfying. My cooking style has evolved over the years. My first influences were southern and soul food. From there I have gone through Mexican and Italian phases. My most prized recipe is one that is handed down from a late relative. It's a chocolate chip cake, that get requested all the time! If my kitchen aid hasn't been used in a week, I usually have a bad illness. I am most comfortable in the kitchen and nourishing my family is what I treasure.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken quesadillas, beef stew in the crock pot, chicken Parmesan, salmon burgers, matzoh ball soup, chocolate chip cake, pecan pie, apple pie, Italian wedding cookies, buttermilk pancakes, grilled salmon on cedar planks with brown sugar and cracked pepper. Oven fried chicken. Buttermilk mashed potatoes and honey corn bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday mornings-big breakfasts with buttermilk pancakes, and maple drizzles bacon all fresh from the farmers market
My cooking triumphs
Beattys chocolate cake-came out fabulous!
My cooking tragedies
When I was 12, I came home from school wanting to make chocolate cake. I looked in my moms recipe book for chocolate cake. I made the first recipe I found. I was so disappointed when the cake overflowed out of the pan. I had made a chocolate mousse cake in a 8 inch cake pan. Needless to say I spent the rest of that afternoon cleaning the bottom of the oven before mom came home:)

Grandma's Homemade Pizza ala 'Da Boys'
Easy dough and sauce recipe. I made two 14 pizzas they were very thick crust that's the way my family likes it. I had an extra cup of sauce left because I only made two pizzas. The dough ended up taking 7 cups flour plus extra to knead to keep from getting sticky. Alternate the toppings to fresh zucchini and mushrooms from the farm. And BBQ chicken yum!!!
