About this Cook
I started cooking a little over two years ago after I met the love of my life. I had never cooked before that and now I'm still learning and cooking a lot more than I did two years ago. I'm hoping to become much better and build a menu of favorites for my VERY picky man.
My favorite things to cook
Anything quick and easy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really get into cooking. But one recipe I haven't been able to get down is my mother's "onion gravy" it's just a regular white gravy based on onions and pepper, but I can't get it to taste like anything but flour! I will get this one day!
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I make something the man LOVES. Not just "it's ok," but LOVES. He's picky so that doesn't happen very often.
My cooking tragedies
Almost anytime I bake, I always make a HUGE mess. Flour everywhere! I once tried to make a cheesecake from scratch and I thought I followed the instructions but it never solidified and just remained a very disgusting cheesecake soup. I once tried to make some fancy heart shaped cookies with a double layer and chocolate in the middle. They turned out rock-hard. Still don't understand why. I'm not much of a baker. :/

Easy and Delicious Chicken and Rice Casserole
I make a very similar version of this. I sautee some onions and garlic first, then I add two cans of cream of chicken, and roughly the equivalent in milk and I cook my chicken in it on the stove on medium heat. While that's cooking, I make about 2 cups of white rice in my rice cooker. I add seasoning to the sauce to taste. I almost always put cayenne and a few dashes of Worcestershire for my husband. When the chicken is cooked through I shred it in the sauce, and mix the rice in and bam! Done. I love it. My husband hates that I make it so much.

Alfredo Sauce
This is the first homemade alfredo sauce I have ever made, and I LOVED it! I was surprised by how easy it was. Things I did differently were, I followed what some others said by just using parmesan, I added an extra 1/4 cup as well, and I added 2 cloves of garlic. I served it over fettuccini noodles with some smoked turkey sausage (because my man wont eat anything without meat!) and sauteed mushrooms. SO good! I wont make alfredo out of a can again.
