Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
These are great cookies! They are super soft and freeze really well!! I used 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening in my cookies. Also, I made my frosting a little thicker by adding extra powdered sugar so that it would be more of a frosting rather than a glaze. REALLY yummy recipe!!!!

Tony's Summer Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
I followed this recipe exactly. I used 6 cloves of garlic as called for in the recipe. I used fresh garlic (the kind you peel and then mince the cloves). I love garlic but this pasta had incredibly too much garlic!! Maybe it was using the fresh garlic that made it over potent. My husband and I both could not finish our serving due to the overpowering garlic.

Frozen Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
These are a great cookie dough for eating since there is no raw egg! The brown sugar flavor is prominent so if you are not crazy about brown sugar I would suggest swapping a little of it for white sugar. I also added a dash of salt and baking soda as another reviewer suggested since my favorite chocolate chip recipe has these in it. After rolling into balls I dipped mine into milk chocolate as shown in one of the pictures. They were AMAZING!! I ended up keeping them in the refrigerator rather than the freezer because we wanted them soft enough to easily bite into.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
My husband and I both enjoyed this recipe very much! I followed some other reviewers' advice and used marinated artichoke hearts. I also used the oil from the artichoke hearts and a splash of olive oil (rather than butter) to saute the garlic, onions, and chicken in. Since it is the middle of winter, I used diced canned tomatoes rather than fresh and got the kind that are seasoned with basil, oregano, and garlic. It added a nice touch! To lighten up a tad I used the Ronzoni Smart Taste penne pasta (more fiber!) and reduced fat feta. This made 5-6 servings for us and also took a little under 45 minutes. Thanks for a great recipe! I will be adding this one in to my rotation!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
This is the first cookie recipe I have tried from this site that I have not liked (out of MANY!). I followed the recipe and my cookies turned out like golf balls when using a scooper so I slightly flattened the cookies on the second pan before putting in the oven. These turned out pretty. However, the taste of these cookies is really lacking. These cookies are screaming for some salt. They are very bland. A positive is they truly are soft. I agree with another reviewer--unless you get a bite with chocolate chips in it, they are a waste of calories. Sorry, but this is one of my least favorite cookie recipes I have ever made and I will not be making again.

Pesto Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Great fast and easy dish! I sauteed the chicken in the sun dried tomato oil as other reviewers suggested and it was great. I also threw in the sun dried tomatoes into skillet a few minutes before the chicken was done. I think this helped the flavor of the tomatoes really come out in the recipe. The pesto I bought came with a little over 1/2 cup so I just added it all and it was not too much. Next time I may use even more sun dried tomatoes because my husband and I really love them. I also topped mine with pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Yum! Overall, really fast and easy recipe. I will be adding this to my regulars!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Great all around chili! I made mine in the crock pot and set it on low for 8 hours. It cooked down and the ground beef was really tender. Before putting in the crock pot, I browned the ground beef with the onions, then put that in the crock pot and poured all the other ingredients in. This would be a good recipe to try out using ground venison. My husband liked it but said he would maybe like it a little spicier next time. Overall a great chili!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
I really enjoyed these cookies! They are a chocolate lover's dream and a dieter's wort nightmare. I followed the recipe exactly (minus the nuts). The 10 minutes for the butter and sugar can be shortened if the butter is slightly softened beforehand. Also, mixing the dry ingredients in a bowl works as good as the plastic bag. The only reason I gave these is a 4 is because they were good but then I frosted then with Vanilla frosting and topped with some sprinkles and then they were amazing! Better than chocolate cake!

Baby Blue Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I made this punch for a baby shower. It went over really well. Everyone loved the rubber ducks! I used blue Hawaiian Punch as well instead of the blue drink mix and I used white grape juice instead of the white cranberry juice. The sugar is not needed when using an already sweetened drink such as Hawaiian Punch. I did not have any problems with the ice cream separating or looking gross. As it melted, it melted into the punch turning it a nice baby blue shade and giving the punch a little creamy flavor. Overall an excellent baby shower punch!
