About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread - have been since I was 12 years old. I love to make soups and stews - just throw things together! I make a killer peanut butter fudge and pumpkin roll that is requested at family gatherings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We like to try different side dishes for thanksgiving and christmas dinners. Latest additions are brazillian dishes inspired by my brazillian "honey"
My cooking triumphs
I think my triumphs are my creativity. I can take whatever I have on-hand and create something great!
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy - that would be the occasional "something different" I like to try with something like ugly fruit or something that caught my eye at the grocery store.

Black Bean Brownies
love the recipe AS WRITTEN. But I don't understand how others can critique IT when they alter it??? Maybe alter AFTER you try it as is - then you can complain (about tasting the beans).

Cream of Tomato Soup
This was great but I was looking for the recipe a deli owner had given to me years ago. It was made with the simplest pasta sauce. Make the roux with 2 tbs butter, 2 tbs. flour and 2 1/2 c milk. Once thickened add 1 jar of pasta sauce (plain no meat or vegs) and stir til hot and serve. It is great. Thanks for helping me "remember".
