Cherry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Very good. I've made this several times. The best way was doubling everything but the butter and pie filling. This made a much higher cake as it's too flat otherwise. It disappeared in no time.

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
Very good. After grating the zucchini, I found it very wet, so I put it in a clean tea towel and then squeezed out the excess liquid. I also added in minced garlic, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and Mrs Dash. Tthen served with sour cream and salsa. A great way to use up all the zucchini.

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
This is the first recipe that I've rated this low. This is a basic meal and easy to prepare but has no flavour. I cooked the pasta separately and didn't add the tomato paste. To give it some taste, I had to add some super hot sauce I bought while in New Orleans.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
Very good recipe. Every time I make them they disappear quite quickly. I increased the ginger to 1 T since I really want a ginger flavour. Instead of water I've been using Triple Sec since I need to use it somewhere. Since I want to get started on my Christmas baking, I've made the dough up to where the balls are rolled in sugar, then I'm freezing them. It should be very simple to later thaw them and bake without a lot of mess.

My Canadian Friend's Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This is an awesome recipe. I've used turkey and pork hot italian sausage, and both work well. I can't be bothered to remove the casings, so they just stay on. I've never heard of "Great Northern Beans" before and I live in Canada aka the Great White North. However, when I am stateside I am able to find them in the grocery stores there. I probably make this recipe several times a month. Thanks for sharing.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Falafel Perfection! I've had trouble in the past with falafels. This time they turned out great. I went through the effort of removing the outer skin from the chick peas, and it made a lot of difference in the end. I also followed other posters' reviews and added baking soda instead of baking powder, and only added 1/2 cup bread crumbs. They were awesome! Thanks Sean for sharing this recipe.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
I've never had kettle corn before, but heard good things about it, so I thought I'd try it. My first attempt was with brown sugar as I was out of white....and it was dreadful. The next two times I used white sugar and it was phenomonal! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Salsa Guacamole

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Absolutely wonderful! I scaled the recipe down to 1 avocado and 1 cup salsa since it was just for 3 people. I also didn't have any cilantro and used 1 clove of garlic instead of powder. Since I was out of tortilla chips, I cut up a flour tortilla wrap and pan-fried it . I can't get over how good it all was. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Graham Cracker Crust II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I'm giving this recipe only 4 stars since it doesn't give enough information, otherwise it's a good crust. If you're using a deep dish pie plate, you'll need to increase the recipe. Also, if you're using Graham Cracker crumbs, then you'll need actual measurements. Therefore, for a deep dish pie crust, use 2 cups crumbs and 1/2 cup butter/margarine. And make sure you press down firmly all over the pie plate.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
This is a great recipe. I followed a couple suggestions made by other reviewers. I brushed some vegetable oil on the roast, then sprinkled on some Montreal Steak spice. I cooked it on the high temp for 21 min, then at 200 degrees for 45 minutes since my oven doesn't hold heat well. After removing the roast from the oven and letting it sit for 20 minutes, I sliced the roast and found it too red/bloody for my taste. I placed the slices of roast back in the pan with the juices and cooked it for 5 more minutes at 400 degrees and it was PERFECT! My son who hates roast beef said it was "okay" and the rest of the family loved it.

Pierogi Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
I made this recipe twice this weekend and got rave reviews - once for home and once for a potluck. Since I didn't have any lasagna noodles, I made my own using the Basic Pasta Recipe found on this site. My only suggestion is to cook up lots of potatoes - maybe about 5 lbs worth since the original amount suggested barely covers the bottom of the pan.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This batter is fantastic. I found adding 3 scoops of batter works best (maybe my mugs are really big). After reading the reviews, I cut the recipe in half and it has made plenty. My son really enjoyed it - without the rum, of course. Thanks for sharing this.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This recipe made an awesome apple pie. My husband and kids went nuts for it. I doubled the sauce recipe, but I think I'll add a bit more flour next time to make it a bit thicker. I just used the apples I had on hand, and it worked out well. This recipe is a keeper.

Bob's Mexican Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
Absolutely wonderful! My family loved it. I didn't use the peppers as I don't care for them. Other than that, I followed the recipe as is. Thanks for sharing.

Focaccia Bread

This is absolutely fantastic. I make it several times a week and we eat it as a snack in the evening. Just dip it into some olive oil and balsamic vinegar and you've got quite the treat. Thanks for sharing.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
Absolutely the best! We serve this with tortilla chips and sour cream. The kids aren't crazy about it, but they don't like anything from the slow cooker.

Pierogi II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
This is a great recipe! My family loves pierogis and this recipe makes it easy. I use a potato and cheddar cheese filling instead of the cottage cheese since that's how we've always had them. I've made double batches and frozen half, but the dough isn't the same once it's been frozen.

Cranberry Chutney I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
Even though I have a lot of experience in the kitchen, I've always been too scared to make cranberry sauce. This recipe was great. I think I'll increase the sugar a bit next time. Thanks for sharing.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I have to admit that while I don't really care for these muffins, my husband and kids think they are wonderful. They're easy to make. You'll want to add a lot of cinnamon to increase the flavour.
