This year for Passover we decided to host a seder at our house. Unfortunately some events transpired that made us cancel at the last minute, but not until after I had cooked all the food. Some of that food was eaten that night, the rest was later reheated and eaten. I made this haroset, Emril's… MORE

I made this baked scallop recipes. It was good, but I used unsalted butter because that's all I had. Unsurprisingly, it needed more salt! In general I would just up the spices a bit and decrease the topping, but otherwise recommend this recipe. I made that on Friday, so it counts for last week,… MORE

I made my second attempt at the Artoo cake this weekend. This time I made a double-batch of cake batter, so when it baked it poofed up over the rim, then I cut down the back to make it flat. I also decorated differently. I put in a thin laying of frosting, thin enough to still clearly see the… MORE

But this weekend my daughter and I wanted to make Valentines cookies and not only did we not have a mix in the house, we also had no… MORE

I tried out my new cake pan and had my first cooking class through the community center, so I have a few things to share...Firstly the Artoo (R2-D2 from Star Wars) cake. Knowing that I am a big Star Wars… MORE

I made this bread pudding for a second time this past Firday, only this time I tried it with the crusts cut off (adding 3 extra pieces of bread to make up for the volume lost by the crusts). That went smashingly, and by smashingly I mean I dropped and smashed my glass nutmeg jar all over the… MORE

This week's food exploits...Since I got back from vacation Tuesday I have had the chance to do one fun thing in the kitchen. On Wednesday I tried my hand at a yellow curry with shrimp from scratch... without a recipe. Does that follow my resolution? I don't know, but it was fun.I used ~2 tbs… MORE
