Cajun Chicken Ragu

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2015
Absolutely Delicious! I knew going into this recipe that I didn't have the time to cook chicken (Frozen chicken + hungry teen begging for food = hurry up) so I made with only the andouille. I also cut back on the chicken broth - didn't feel I needed quite so much since there was no chicken. I didn't add more oil either ... I had enough grease from the bacon to do the trick. We just loved loved loved it! We love spicy stuff so I just seasoned to our taste. Served it up over rice. Wonderful recipe! Thanks for posting!

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2015
Delightfully lemony garlicky chicken! I took the advice of other reviewers and used chicken broth instead of bouillon. And because I'm a LAZY cook, I just tossed all the ingredients in the crock pot and skipped the browning and boiling. While I may well be missing something by doing it that way, the dish was DELISH! Served it over noodles. She shoots... SHE SCORES!!! TX for the recipe!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2014
Excellent soup! Perfect comfort or under-the-weather food. My only tweak was I added Knorr concentrated chicken stock for added flavor to the broth.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2014
I found this a good base recipe. Like some other reviewers, I wouldn’t have found this to be a WOW without some adjustments. So as a base … it’s a solid 4 star. Make it your own and you’ll give it the big 5! My additions were: black beans, 1 packet of taco seasoning, Rotelle (instead of crushed tomatoes) and zero water … chicken broth all the way!

Caramels

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2014
O to the M to the G! I followed the recipe to the T. I took another reviewers caution and used a large pan without the non-stick surface. I took my time ... with the patience of Job ... for one full hour to reach 250 degrees. And here's the only thing I did differently: I added smoked sea salt to the end product. JUST BEAUTIFUL. Texture - perfect. The combo of sweet and salty was perfection. Amazing recipe!

Creamy Lemon Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
These turned out okay. What I was hoping for was a really zesty, tangy lemon square that packed a little punch. The lemon taste just wasn't very potent. I went with the graham cracker crust suggestion of a number of other posters ... that was yummy. But next time, I'll try to do something to get more zing in these bars.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
EXCELLENT. Make this. I only tweaked 2 things … I added fresh mushrooms and doubled the gravy/sauce, whatever you call it. Other reviewers said that was the thing to do so I did it ... and they were RIGHT. Look … this is just a darned good recipe. Total comfort food! Perfect when you've had a rotten day or when it's cold and rainy or when you just need to give yourself a hug. Do it. Make it. You deserve a good squeeze. Thank you Marian Collins ... this recipe saved my rotten day from being a total wash!

Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
YES! It's as other reviewers say ... it's like the boxed mix that we all love. It's super easy and just as customizable. Throw in blue berries or top with bananas and nuts. Great, solid, basic recipe.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
Absolutely wonderful recipe! So glad I found it! I've made it 3 times. The 3rd time I was out of white wine but I went ahead and made it anyway ... I admit, I did miss it ... enough that I'd make a trip to the market to get it the next time. It was still good ... but the wine just pushes it over the edge to great! Each time I've made it I've used regular old plain white rice because I have a huge bag of it in my pantry. While I'm sure that the fancy-schmancy rice is better, it turns out great with white rice anyway! So don't let that stand in your way if that's what you have on hand. My boys and I LOVE this recipe!

Yogurt Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
We liked this very much! Like another reviewer, I used Italian Bread Crumbs and garlic powder and some good ole S&P. Then I wrapped a strip of bacon around each breaded breast (I had to use them up). Turned out great!

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Great base for a good eggs salad sammach! I added dill pickle relish and a splash of white vinegar for a little zing. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of parm when I'm in the mood. It's my absolute favorite sandwhich!

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2012
I feel like I must've missed something somewhere because this turned out pretty flat and tasteless. The ingredients sounded perfect and it smelled very good while cooking. I followed the advice of numerous other reviewers and coated the beef in a flour, garlic powder, pepper and onion powder combo and browned it. I added wine, used beef broth and even a sprinkle of beef bouillon hoping the flavors would pop. I even resorted to a dash of Worcestershire but that didn't help either. As far as the potatoes go, I used red potatoes (as another reviewer suggested) because they hold up nicely in stews without getting mushy. This was better the next day but it was lacking that robust beef flavor I was searching for and the broth never quite made it to the texture and consistency I wanted. Thank you, Paula for posting it. I bet when you make it it's much better - I just flubbed it up somehow! :o/

Glazed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
This is a definite do-again... and again. It's not only easy, but it's quick and tasty. I took the advice of other reviewers and cut the brown sugar in half. The gravy was great over egg noodles, which made the dish a little reminiscent of hungarian goulash only with pork. Excellent recipe!

Spinach Cheese Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
This is a great dish. I added white meat chicken and bacon bits. I love cottage cheese but I'm totally open to ricotta as other reviewers have suggested. I bumped up the garlic because ... duh ... and I drank wine while I cooked ... making this dish a total home run!

Best Green Beans

This is FAB! And I even forgot the soy sauce! My only change is that I used frozen french cut green beans - I like that they are firmer than canned. Excellent!

Greek Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
This is a good use-up-your-left-overs kind of recipe. I made some additions and changes that turned out great! 1) I sauteed crushed garlic in 1/4 c. butter. 2) I added left over baked chicken that I cut up into cubes. 3). Added a 1/2 cup of frozen spinach. 4) I used white American, mozzarella and parm b/c that's what I had on hand. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
This is a great recipe! I took the advice of another reviewer and substituted vanilla yogurt for the buttermilk and apple sauce for part of the oil. I used a mixture of white flour, wheat flour and oatmeal. The oatmeal gave it a great texture!

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
This is a very good base recipe from which to build your own custom mac-n-cheese. I personally didn't find the Dijon mustard taste appealing - I'll leave that out next time. I agree with other reviewers, this needs a few other cheeses. I followed the recipe exactly and it's good. Next time I'll step it up with some of my own favorite cheeses.

Whipped Cauliflower

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
The fam loved this! I broke one head of cauliflower in pieces and boiled until very, very tender. To whip it, I added about 2tbs butter, cream, a healthy plop of sour cream and threw in the last of the blue cheese crumbles I had on hand. Salt & pepper and blam! Good stuff! Next time I may add some bacon bits for kicks. Great recipe!

Corn Chowder with Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
Fab! I used Old World Fire roasted pepper, onions and asagio chicken sausage (that's what I had on hand) and from there, followed the recipe exactly. I shredded the last of the cheddar in my frige for a topping just because I wanted to use it up. It was a nice addition but certainly not necessary. Total home run with my boys! THANKS Yvonne!
