About this Cook
I have an interest in all areas of domestic life, cooking being my favorite.I would love to be able to someday say that I am a highly skilled home cook. I'm a traditionalist, I like the ole' time cooks with proven recipes. My food philosophy is simple, comfortable, traditional.
My favorite things to cook
BREAD! I love the whole process of bread-making. Green peppers and onions, salt and pepper can carry a dish a long way...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have RARELY seen my grandmother use a recipe to cook and I enjoy her cooking..BUT I BELIEVE in the value of a good recipe; a "good" recipe being one that works and produces a good product everytime!
My cooking triumphs
I'm doing pretty good with drop cookies! I've also cooked some good breads that I am proud of!
My cooking tragedies
Still trying to perfect mac n cheese! If I make thomas jefferson style it sometimes comes out too flour/grainy not velvety...With Baking: learning alot about following recipes to the letter and what a disaster a recipe can become if you don't pay attention/ or have a bad recipe... I sometimes mess up cakes made from scratch! I think its my oven, seriously! LOL

Glazed Lemon Supreme Pound Cake
I did this recipe and it came out very light and spongy. It was delicious.

Potato Croquettes
Came out good! But I used Two Very Large potatoes and one medium with about 1/2 cup milk (just enough to wet it) in food processor and got just a little over 4 cups of mashed potatoes. ANYWAY it came out nice, I served it with hamburgers.

Pumpkin Muffins II
I made the recipe to the letter EXCEPT that I made a bundt cake, I added 1 teas. ginger instead of nutmeg, I omitted the allspice and added a dash of vanilla. It came out REALLY good. I liked the nice soft texture. It taste like pumpkin pie to me! Amount of Ginger didn't make it too spicy but just right...
