Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
Made this for the first time tonight and it was a hit. I think the next time I'll forgo the salt and pepper; the flavor was wonderful without them.

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2013
There's a very good German restaurant in town that makes a delicious red cabbage. I think this is better. Like some other reviewers I used 1/3 cup of sugar instead of 1/4 cup to balance with the vinegar. Next time I might not use the full amount of cloves; to me its very close to being too strong for this recipe. This was not difficult to make, especially if you have a good food processor.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
Since I didn't have all the ingredients I substituted a few things. OMG! This was amazing. Sweet and spicy without either being overpowering.Definitely going to make this sauce and try it out on other meats. I did add a little hot sauce but in hindsight I don't think it was necessary. My substitutions were as follows: 1/2 cup of horseradish sauce for 1/2 cup of the chili sauce 1/4 cup each of turbinado sugar and molasses for 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Old-Fashioned Italian Zucchini Fritters

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
This was very easy to make and very delicious. The basil was almost overpowering so next time I'm going to cut back a bit and add more cheese. I'll probably add some other seasoning as well. Did not have a problem with it being too watery.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
I followed this recipe using MommyFromSeattle's variation. First batch was a little overdone after 55 minutes, but I reduced the cooking time by 2 minutes and it came out amazingly good. Definitely a keeper.

New England Clam Chowder I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
Like many of the others I made some alterations to the original recipe: 1 cup of heavy cream in place of 1 cup of half-and-half; added all the clam juice; at the end, brought it to a boil and stirred (and stirred and stirred). I added 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper and it was not enough. Will try a full teaspoon next time. Still got rave reviews from a 12-person party. I will definitely make this again.
