About this Cook
I taught myself to cook when my husband and I first moved in together. Unfortunately, I work full time and don't get the opportunity to cook larger meals as often as I would like. I also don't do a lot of cooking in the summer months. I like to try something new about twice a month. Many of the new recipes I have tried have been from Allrecipes. When I'm not cooking I'm walking, doing Zumba, or reading novels.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Parmesean, Shrimp or Chicken Scampi, Chicken Taco Soup and Italian Sandwich Beef which are both recipes from Allrecipes Chesapeake Filet
My favorite family cooking traditions
Red Velvet Cake, and the Traditional Thanksgiving Meal - bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and turkey with gravy.

Strudel, home made pierogies, creme brulee, Chesapeake Filet
My cooking tragedies
I can cook anything and bake a lot of different things but I have yet to master pies. I tried to make a pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving 3 years ago and the center flopped and was soupy. My first attempt at grilled pork tenderloin was a bad experience also. I had dinner guests and completely burned the tenderloin. I have sinced mastered grilling tenderloin.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
Excellent! I followed another review and made the following adjustments to the sugar mixture - added 1 TBS of vanilla added 1 tsp of cinnamon added a dash of nutmeg I mixed 3/4 of the sugar mixture in with the apples and poured the rest on top. I also used a lattice crust topping. I will say, it is tart, and I don't like tart. However, I feel the tartness enhanced the flavor of the pie. Can't wait to make for Thanksgiving and show off my newest pie recipe!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
Followed advice from another review and mashed the bananas and measured it to equal 1 cup. I added about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips.

Cindy's Jambalaya
Great meal for football Sunday! I added a pound of cut up boneless chicken and used 1 pound of Andouille sausage along with 1 pound of shrimp. Doubled the rest of the ingredients to feed our guests. Served with fresh homemade corn bread. Will make again.
