Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
Really simple and great to make when you don't feel like spending too much time in the kitchen! Searing the steak first really does help keep the pieces from falling apart in the slow cooker, but it isn't necessary. My whole family loves it, and it's certainly a keeper in my house!

Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
Very good! I'm not a huge fan of shortbread but my boyfriend is, and he loved these! I enjoyed them, too. I added a teaspoon of vanilla when I made it. They turned out crumbly and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Creamy Kielbasa and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
This was great! I tweaked the recipe just a little, though: per another reviewer's response, I used whole milk in the place of the water. Also, I used cream of mushroom soup and boiled the potatoes before adding them to my crockpot to slow cook all morning so it would be ready when we came home from church this afternoon. I added two cans of CREAMED corn and it made the texture oh-so-creamy and nice. I think this is going to become a staple around my house!

Honey Baked Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
I just made this and it is delicious! I decided to forgo the dry ingredient measurements and just eyeball the amounts but I used the exact measurements for the honey and margarine. I also substituted light corn syrup for the honey, because I didn't have any (and my father is allergic to bee products). I forgot to grease the pan, but it didn't stick due to the drippings, etc. At first I thought I'd added too much garlic because of the smell emanating out of my oven but it turned out delicious! I used leg quarters for this recipe. Some said it was bland, and yes, compared to some chicken recipes it is, but the natural flavor of the chicken really came out and it's incredibly easy to make, so it has its redeeming qualities. I'll definitely make this again.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
Absolutely delicious! However, I don't add any sugar at all, and I use blackberry preserves as the matrix to hold it all together. It gives the salsa a darker color, but I love the flavor. I like to add bananas to the mix, and I make light work of chopping all the fruits by using my collard chopper (the serrated round tool with the wooden handle). The chips are fantastic as well! I make this for a lot of large get-togethers, and I come home with an empty bowl nearly every time.

Mexican-Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
Delicious! I used pinto beans instead of kidney beans, and it turned out amazingly! I will definitely make this again.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
These were delicious! I accidentally cooked the apples a little too long, so it tasted a little burned, but my family couldn't get enough. My boyfriend said they were the best pork chops he's ever eaten! Even my picky brother who generally doesn't like fruit enjoyed these.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
I made these on the night of the 23rd in order to serve for Christmas, making the dough and forming the rolls and then covering them to let them rise the second time in the refrigerator. On Christmas morning I took them out and let them sit for half an hour, and then baked them. The family raved over them. The icing was delicious, too! Another thing I did differently was to mix the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon before spreading on the rolled out dough. It worked well and the filling didn't "run out" like others said it did. Fabulous!

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
It definitely had a "different" flavor, I think due to the wine, but my family and I enjoyed it. I thickened the au jus with cornstarch and made a gravy which I served over mashed potatoes. I reduced the soy sauce slightly after reading some of the reviews and used fresh chopped garlic instead of the pre-made minced garlic.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
I made this as a side dish for Christmas dinner. It was good (I'm not too fond of cooked carrots, but my family is), though I think I should have added a bit more brown sugar to make it a little sweeter. I did add a little more orange juice. My family loved it, and I will make this again for them.
